SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player Logo
Posted on Dec 29, 2007

It never finishes the refreshing of its data base.

My sansa e250R MP3 can be activated and deactivated, but it is not sensed by the computer and it does not finish refreshing its data base after each activation. The MP3 when activated shows the normal logos and moves to the "refresh data base screen" and begins to refresh. It never makes it past 1/8 of the way. This all started three months ago after I had added music to it. I have tried leaving it untill the batteried die. I have tried leaving it overnight while in a charger. I can't get to my music on my Mp3. Please assist me.

My sansa e250r mp3 player keeps freezing on the refresh database screen. I can't do anything. What can i do?

Hello,

You could try, resetting the e200 series player as told in next link:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/189

If that won't help, updating the player should be performed.
In next page is showed how to use the Sansa Firmware Updater:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/306
note:
Before updating, backup the content from the player to your computer !

Refreshing data base

Download this file:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/0mc3km

This is the firmware update utility for Sanca c140 (c100 series) devices.

There is a howto.txt file included, follow the instructions.I am posting the instructions here for convenience.

1. Download the attached file and save it on the desktop.
(the player should not be attached to the computer at this point)
2. Double click the file to run it.
3. Accept the license agreement.
4. Remove the battery from the mp3 player.
5. Press and hold the center (select) button and connect it to the computer (keep holding the button, this is the firmware update mode).
6. If the New Hardware Wizard appears (now you can let go of the select button), do the following: (if asked, choose not to connect to the internet for updates), then choose to install the device automatically, then follow the prompts to finish the installation.
7. When the wizard comes up, or when the Update button becomes active (whichever happens first), you may release the select button.
8. Click the Update button, and then click OK to the message that comes up.
9. Wait until the upgrade finishes, then unplug the device.
10. Put the battery back in, and turn on the player.
11. Hopefully the update will be performed, then choose English for the language when prompted.
12. Check if the issue is resolved.

Deleting music off of my sansa E250r!!HLP ME

If you originally used rhapsody (or began in Rhapsody mode) , you have to use rhapsody to remove the songs. If that doesn't work, you can manually open the music folder by enabling "hidden folders" under "tools" -> "folder options..." -> click the "view" tab -> scroll and check "show hidden files and folders". Then go to My Computer -> Sansa e250 -> "system" -> "music" -> then delete the songs. I don't know the effects of using this method, so use it at your own risk.

Btw, Real Player should do fine as well.

Refreshing data base

It refreshes the database to build the menu for you to navigate.

Your device may have corrupt data in it and therefore takes longer than normal to build the library.

You can format the device to remove everything, and then re-transfer them to see if that helps.

To format in My Computer>Device Name (e250)>right Click and select format.

Best of Luck.
