I bought an Olympus DS 40 from ebay - ie wothout

I bought an Olympus DS 40 from ebay - ie without any software or cables etc. But the seller assured me I could just connect it with an ordinary USB cable. I've just done that and successfully used it as you would an external drive and copied the files off it onto my PC. Then I used 'safely remove hardware' to disconnect it. But now when I've tried to switch it on, nothing happens! If I connect it back to the pc it still shows up with all the files on it, and I've tried changing the batteries, but no joy :-(

Open the battery compartment there is a very small white sticker that has your serial number hard to read but it is there enjoy!

do you have the cd sleeve? that is where it is if not phone olympus give them the number in the battery tell them you need help and that should do it

How do I return an item I bought on ebay?

Did you pay via PayPal? If so, login to your PayPal account and open a dispute (under My Account, Resolution Centre). Ebay isn't like a local retail shop where you can buy stuff and use it for a few days then take it back for a full refund. You typically need a good reason to expect the seller to take back the product. ie: it's the wrong item, defective, doesn't match description, etc.. Telling the seller you've changed your mind usually doesn't work. Good luck.

How come my dsi keeps going black but i can still hear the noise and it is still on???????????????????????

From the looks of it, I'd say either the top screen of the your Nintendo DSi is comming detached, the screen connection cable inside the ds has come lose, or the power switch are loose. These are both symptoms of rough handling. Has it ever been dropped, handled roughly, etc.?
In any case, whatever the problem is it's usually not easily fixable at home. You should try taking it in to an expert. If you bought it from a local game store (eb games, gamestop, etc.) bring it in and they should either fix your system, hook you up with someone who can, or replace it for you.
If you bought it online from a retailer, try contacting the online seller for a refund, or get in touch with Nintendo. You may be able to mail it back for repairs or a replacement.
If you bought it used off ebay or craigslist or through a friend, you may be out of luck. Check with the seller to see if they had any warranty left, and if not, perhaps buy another replacement ds new rather than used from a retailer instead of an individual.

Ds-40 can deleted files be restored?

In this case you should connect your recorder to PC and then you can try to restore your files with Easy Drive Data Recovery software:

It uses unique modern algorithms to recover files that other software either recovers incorrectly or is unable to detect.

DS 40 is discontinued I need something a product that is similar that is the same price and compatible with the Olympus ME30W 2 Chanel Professional Microphone

I need the serial number for Olympus "DSS player software".

I just bought a used DM-40, and formatted my device before reading that I lost the voice guide files. I tried the above links and s/n for installing DSSplayer 7 but no joy. Does anyone have the files who would be willing to email them to me, and tell me which folder to place them in? Or provide a working s/n for a v7 installation? Thanks, Mike

Olympus ds-30 voice recorder

I don't think the serial number is required to install the software. I didn't see DS-30 information on the Olympus website. DS-40 was the closest one. No information was availbable regarding serial numbers.

I have a VN-4100PC and don't recall being asked for a serial number. The software is the same thing for all Olympus players.
