Doesn't spin freely, works for about half a cycle and stops spinning. won't turn back on or spin good until it cools for a few hours. then you might get another half cycle or so out of it.

Open the dryer door and maunually spin the drum around. if it spins relatively easily, then it sounds like the drive motor is going bad. the windings open up and it stops. sounds like you need a new motor. it may be cheaper in the long run to get a new dryer

Why is my frigidaire washer not spinning?

  1. Stopped Mid-cycle
    • If your Frigidaire washing machine started spinning, but then stopped, verify that the power cord is still connected to the outlet. See if the outlet blew by plugging in a different appliance into the outlet. See if you blew a fuse. A blown fuse usually is either black or has broken wires. Replace the fuse. If you have a circuit breaker instead of a fuse box, reset the circuit breaker if it's been tripped. Check the lid switch, which is located inside the main housing of the washing machine, near the door frame. If the switch is burned out, order a new part from a Frigidaire parts dealer.
    Pump
    • The pump's sole responsibility is to remove water during the spin cycle. If the pump isn't working properly, see if it's clogged with debris or clothing. Use needle-nose pliers to remove these items. Check the pump pulley, which is connected to the pump. This component must move freely for the pump to work. If it won't turn, purchase a new pump pulley since you can't usually fix this component.
    Lid
    • Check the door latch assembly if the door isn't closing correctly. If any of these components are broken, order a new part from a Frigidaire parts dealer. If you do not, the washer won't start spinning since it believes the door isn't closed. Your Frigidaire washing machine won't start the spin cycle until the lid or door is closed. Always close the lid, and remove any items preventing the lid from fully closing. Always close the dispenser drawer.
    Additional Concerns
    • Never over- or under-load your washing machine. Your Frigidaire washer may not enter the spin cycle if the load is too large, since this can damage the washing machine. Remove a few pieces of clothing. If the load is too small, add a few similar items to the washing machine. Check the internal belt, drive motor and motor coupling. If any of these components are broken or very worn, they may not work properly, preventing the washer from entering the spin cycle. Order replacement parts from a parts dealer. Check the tub and basket bearings, and get new ones if the current ones have broken components or are defective.

When I turned my pump off to backwash and then turned it back on it made a humming noise then stopped running. Now it is doing nothing. what could the problem be?

sounds like a bad start capacitor, or there is something (rock, sand, or some debris) caught in the impeller.

The start capacitor not working will cause your motor to hum, then it will overheat and trip the high limit. It won't attempt to come back on until it has cooled. It's a common problem.

try clearing the impeller first, if that doesn't work and the motor shaft spins freely, then it's a capacitor.

Spin cycle will not work on siemens xlm 1400 and filter has been cleaned what to do

If the spin cycle is not working, it could be several things. How is it not working? If it won't do anything, i.e. doesn't turn, then I would suspect the transmission since the spin cycle is the high side of the transmission. If it spins but does not take the water out of the unit, then I would suspect, either the pump or the timer.

Good luck and have a great day!

I have a GE washer which the agitator and tub do not spin. I can turn both freely by hand. The belt is in tact. During the cycle, the motor just osillates a minute amount in both the clock and counter...

it might be the safety switch under the door.
it is a switch that will not allow the spin cycle to spin unless the door is closed - like when you look in your washer while its spinning and as soon as you open the door the spinning stops until you shut the door again.
if its damaged it will not allow the spin cycle to work.
try look under the lid.
costs around $3.00 put in with a screw driver good luck

Water would not drain and was slow to spin

Hi Rick. Now on the FISHER@PAYKEL machines they will not spin properly unless all the water is out of your machine. Please look underneath the machine for me and you should see the pump which has a fan attached to it .It is located to the front right. Now turn the fan clockwise and anticlockwise a few times to loosen the pump as it may be jammed. The fan should freely. To look under the machine 1st you must bail some of the water out by hand with a small bucket or pot, enough to lean the machine back so you can look under the machine without it leaking everywhere. Now once the fan turns freely put it back on its feet and select a spin cycle and push the start button.Hopefully the machine will start to drain and spin. Please reply back on how you got on or if the machine still does not drain.

Samsung SRS583HDP fridge not cooling. Side by side

Most likely the thermostat in the fridge, especially if it read 5 degrees until you reset it. Possibly the compressor in the fridge side as this fridge has twin cooling, or the circulating fan in the back of the fridge is frozen, which is a common problem as well.
Easiest things to try is to see if the fan is frozen and check if the fridge cooling is actually working. Turn off the fridge, remove the shelves, remove the 4 screws that hold in the bottom cover and the 2 screws that hold the water tank in. Cover should then come out a few inches. Reach behind and unplug the 2 plugs and pull out the cover. If the cover doesnt come out easily it may be glued to the back of the fridge by ice. Leave for a couple of hours and gently prize it off. Check for ice around the fan and that the fan spins freely. You could try sitting the cover inside the fridge, plug it in turn it back on for a few minutes (be careful) and then open the door and quickly look / listen to see if the fan is still spinning (it stops when you open the door). Leave the fridge off for a while until the ice disappears off the coils. Turn back on for half an hour. The coils should be icy again. Anything else call Samsung. If the deal in your country is the same as mine the fridge has a 2 year warranty but in the fine print the sealed compressor unit has five years on parts only. You could get the unit replaced for labour costs only. Check your warranty card.
