As far as I can tell the fridge and freezer are on two separate compressers so if one gos down the opposite will still work. As for the red light I can only think if the unit is not working that the defrost is stuck open, or the compresser relay I stuck open, or the compresser is shor, or t-stat is stuck open od there may be a drain pan sensor and it is full and not evaporating. Sorry that's all I got

you are not getting a complete defrost. and mosture is building insde / card board is soft with mosture, ck the drain and the defrost heater's and the defrost terminator . these would cause the problem hope this helps mm

it proberbly has slow gas leakage get it toped up with gas and the leakage points must be traced and sealed

check behin the fridge. try listen the compressor. not hear the com.? maybe time for a new fridge. unless is under full warranty

If the fridge is working and keeping things cold and frozen, you don't have a refridgerant leak that is producing vapor that might appear as steam or smoke.

The steam/smoke is actually water vapor being made visable due to the temperature difference between the freezer/fridge temperatures and the air temp in the room (or garage) the appliance is in.

It's nothing to worry about and is normally more likely to happen when the outside or house air temp is very warm (Summer months) and when the air is humid.

What's happening is the very cold and cool air is hitting and mixing with the much warmer and much more dense air (humid air contains microscopic water particles) when you open the doors, and is instantly being cooled. Thus it appears as thou the fridge is steaming or smoking.

evaporator coils is probably frosted from condinsation.shut door set at normal setting and give some time.

Please check the fallowing:
-Loose flooring or floor not firm.
- Cabinet not level.
- Tubing in contact with cabinet, other tubing or other metal.
- Drip tray vibrating.
- Fan hitting another part or worn fan motor bearings. Unplug the unit and rotate fan manually by your finger.
- Compressor mounting grommets worn or missing; mounting hardware loose or missing.
- Free or loose parts causing or allowing noise during operation
- Check compressor it may contact with tubing or other parts.
- Check the body of your unit is not touching the wall or other object

The best way is open freezer door wait 30 seconds then shut if the door pulls shut further then machine is working if not not working.
