Exactly the same problem as jock46. OS is windows XP . have tried canon digital proffessional from the disc and downloaded it from the canon website. have tried opening the RAW pics in several applications. Have opened them in EOS viewer but cant move them to a file on the PC.Am i missing something?. have just bought the camera so maybe something on the camera menu needs setting ? the help topics on the canon software doesn't even cover this problem

This is not as much of a solution as it is an agreement to the above "best solution". I have found the best way to transfer image files (raw or .jpg) to be via a card reader. (I had the same problem when trying to read/transfer photos directly from the camera.) All files have been visible to me on multiple OS, via a card reader.

Plus, you have the added advantage of 1) not using up your camera battery during the transfer process which may be long, depending on your CF size and 2) the potential added speed of USB 2.0, depending on the card reader that you use. (I bought a $30 SONY multi-card reader after going through several cheap off-brand options that didn't last, and have been extremely happy with it, both in performance speed, light weight, and sleek design.)

I had the same problem transferring RAW images from my
canon EOS20D to my PC. I have overcome this by downloading
the EOS utility software from the Canon website. This software
allows transfer of RAW images from the camera to be adjusted in canon digital professional before converting and saving as a jpeg image to a folder on your PC

Have you ever been able to view the pictures on your pc?
Have you got a card reader that can view the card contents externaly from the camera?
I found the Canon software is quite as happy from a card reader as it is reading from the camera. (I have the next model up, 30D.)
Have you tried upgrading your software, or tried using a third party image program to read the raw files?
Over to you!

Seems the problem is with the software then.

What OS are you using, I wonder if something has 'removed' the ability to read (or see) raw images?

(OS=Win XP, Mac OS, Linux etc?)

Windows and some other programs have a nasty habbit of removing things you took for granted sometimes after 'updating'!

Unknowly i put the camera adjustment to RAW and i couldnot save those pictures in PC or in note book thanks in previous

.raw is just another photo format, there are ususally plugins/drivers for both paint shop pro and photoshop element to view .raw files and then save them as something else.
For instance Windows XP has a downloadable .raw viewer:

How do i save raw pictures from my camera to a disk. When I transfer them to my computer I can only open them with my cameras software. I don't know how to get them into another program so I can burn them....

You can't burn raw pictures. They are only data from a camera....not an actual picture. They must be processed in an editing program and then converted to another format such as jpeg or tiff.

Can we use canon ixus 75 as a webcam

A raw image is an uncompressed format your camera takes the picture in. Usually it gets transferred from the camera into a .jpg compressed format to your computer (which simplifies everything and is able to be viewed by anything like photo viewers). I would search for a canon IXUs 75 driver for your computer, and turn your camera 'on' plugged in with your USB using a standard computer photoviewer program to see if it has a live mode?

Importing Images

The CR2 suffix means that the picture was taken in the RAW file format, a proprietary format. This requires that the images be processed by a software conversion to be 'readable' by the computer. The EOS Utility software that came with the camera will work, as well as a number of third-party software packages. GOOGLE "raw file conversion Canon digital rebel" to see the options.

The other option is to take your photos in JPEG format (not RAW). Your computer can 'read' any JPEG format image.

My 450D thinks it's recording RAW pictures - only JPG on the SD

It is possible that you have set your Camera to RAW+L instead of RAW. Take card out ofb the camera, use a card reader and browse the card using the OS (as auxillary drive) rather than Aperture. I suspect that the RAW files are present, juts not visible on your computer possibly because of some setting in Aperture.

I have a canon eos 20D and the camera don`t accept 2, 4, 8 GB CF i download the last actualization and the problam is the same can you help me with this problam thanks

I have a Canon 20D in my fleet and have used 1 gig card in it almost exclusively however I did use a 2gig and a 4gig when shooting RAW + jpg. I would think that you haven't formatted the card for the camera even if it's a new card and has never been used you need to format the card to the camera you are going to use it in.

EOs 20D digital camera

Prior to models made in 2007 or later, no SLR camera (film or digital) was able to let you compose the picture before shooting it other than through the optical viewfinder. SLRs are different in this respect from compact digital cameras. You will only be able to review your pictures on the LCD after they are taken.

Canon powershot a570

Well, no matter you photos in Canon camera got deleted, formatted by accident or became inaccessible due to camera memory card errors. Chances of recovery is possible as long as you take the right action.

Take a try of this software to recover Canon photos, Not only general photo formats, but Canon RAW photo formats (.cr2 or .crw) can be retrieved easily.

Note: before the photos are recovered, Never should you attempt to take more photos or save more data to the memory card in case chances of photo recovery might be reduced. Hope it helps. Regards.
