Just bought a samsung 610 46'' lcd Motorola HD cable box connected to HDMI/DVI input 1 on tv. was working fine out of the box, but this am, tv said signal was weak (720x480) instead of the hi-res signal. screen shows signal for about 3 secs and then goes black. i tried other hdmi inputs and video works fine, but no audio because i am using an hdmi/dvi cable. is this a software issue on the tv, or do i have a bad hdmi input. seems like the cable and cable box should be fine, because the hdmi video worked on one of the other hdmi inputs.

Hi Jatinder Kumar ,
Yes you can connect your computer output to lcd tv through dvi-hdmi cable or vga-hdmi cable.
1. Connect to HDMI (DVI) : just plug in HDMI (DVI) out of PC or laptop to HDMI or DVI TV. Than select source from HDMI.
2. Connect to PC : Plug D sub to TV, select PC in.
From looking at the back panel of the TV, the DTV input can be configured as a component video. The M-Link/DVI-HD port is also a DVI with HDCP port and maximum signal handled is 1080i. The M-Link should work with an HDMI to DVI cable or adapter. For this to work, the source must not be a computer or another device using the default computer video output (computers give RGB output). The DTV port would need an HDMI to Component video converter. See this page for some examples: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdtocoad.html . The first one in the list (for Netflix and Boxee among others) will give 1080i out if the source is set correctly.
Most DVI-HDMI cables are single link. I've seen some examples where DVI-I (single link) and DVI-D (dual link) cables are not interchangeable. If you have video problems, check your cable. An HDMI to DVI adapters will let you run an HDMI cable up to the TV and then converter at the TV as a separate connection.
Your setup has a TV/Monitor and a audio/video box. The A/V box is connected to the TV and other source inputs connect to the A/V box. Hookup your cable box to the A/V box either using component video (green, blue, red) RCA cables from cable box outputs to the A/V box inputs OR the A/V box also has a DVI/HDMI input jack which may work using a HDMI cable. Select the proper source.
First, HDMI is not a perfect hook-up solution. Cable box connections via HDMI are notorious for being problematic. The best thing you can do is contact Samsung and get the latest firmware for your TV. Samsung Customer Care: 1-800-Samsung (1-800-726-7864). If this does not resolve the issue, connect the cable box using Component cables instead of the HDMI. Component cables are HD also. I hope this was of some assistance.
If you have more than one HDMI port on your TV,
run one HDMI cable from the DCT6412 to the TV,
and one HDMI cable from the BluRay unit to the TV.
Then, use the "source" (or "input") control on the TV's remote-control to select either 'HDMI1' or 'HDMI2'.
This TV has no HDMI input socket. It Has a DVI input socket. Therefore you will require an HDMI to DVI converter adapter or an HDMI to DVI cable. The DVI is video only so you will require audio cables from your Sky box (Audio L and R ) which will connect to the back left of your TV (Audio L/R sockets next to the s-video and component video connectors)
You will need an HDMI to DVI cable which are available in the shops, even ASDA has one but I don't know how good it is. Or you can buy an adapter that will plug into one of the ends of the HDMI cable and then plug into the DVI socket at the back of the TV. The DVI input is video only so you will need audio leads for sound. These will connect from the output of your source, say, blue ray or sky HD (Left and right audio sockets ) to the audio L/R at the back left of the TV (on the block next to the three component video connections and s-video connections)
ok your tv does not come with the very best sound, you have to get a receiver 7.1 or you can use the optical wire , that's if the system you are using has that option.
This set has a factory upgrade for HDMI problems like yours and it also fixes another problem for intermitent sound in the HDMI mode.
This model is still under warranty.
