Hi just got a LG dvd/vcr Model RC897T. I have it hocked up right, but i can't get it to switch over so that it would be seen on the TV. can you help

First of all this was bought for my grandmother who is using the converter box. I couldn't get it to work on her tv, so i bought it home and hooked it up to my cable and nothing. how it's hooked up is

The cable line is in the in from ant and the cord that came with it is out from ant hooked to the back of the tv. No that didn't help. My cable box is hook up to the vcr/dvd player there are no other hook up's. also this is for my grandmother who has no cable jus converter box how do you hook the vcr/dvd up to that. Ok lets try this again My cable box is motorola dct 700 with a router next to it. I have only one tv, so the cable line comes from the wall and splits in between the cable box and the router. RF IN line from the cable box is hooked into the dvd/vcr ant in. the cord that came with it is hooked up to the bottom that say's out to tv. also the remote doesn't work on my tv.
