Computer flat screen monitor flickered then went black

The flickering problem you have is caused by a failing power supply. There are parts called capacitors that are failing and causing the power supply board to put out pulsing voltages until it can stabilize. If you want to fix it, then you will need to buy some tools and basic knowledge of electronics, common problem with this monitor is the failed transistors and fuse in the inverter circuits, see pictures here as a guide: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
I would give the monitor to someone that is learning electronics to practice troubleshooting.

Try it on another PC to narrow down the problem. If does the same on another PC, then you need to open it up and inspect inside the unit, first thing to look for will be capacitors with bulging top/seal or leaking, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

I have the same problem with mine. I've kinda narrowed it down to it being the power supply in the monitor. was told it is about a $20 fix but we'll see

The 920nw did have a 3 year warranty on the unit but they will be out of warranty now. The flickering power light is an indication of a failure in the power supply board. When the board fails it can't start up correctly and the power shuts down over and over so you get the blinking light and no display. This is a very common failure point on all LCD monitors after a few years of use. There are parts called capacitors on the power supply board and they filter the output power. When they fail the power is not properly regulated and the power supply shuts down and tried to restart so you get the flashing. Solution = Sledgehammer. My 226BW has been taking ages to warm up for a while and now it is a permanent dull flicker.

Its the capacitors on the backlight power supply. Samsung installed crappy ones and they blow up after a year or two. Change out the caps and you're good to go

Normaly the backlights have a life of around 40k hours of working.
If your monitor is 3-4 years ,the backlight tube/s could be defective.Your description seems to indicate tube aging.

It's possible to replace the tube but needs a good amount of technical skill.

Well, this problem is going to only get worse. You can probably send it back to the manufacturer if you still have a warantee, but if you can't just buy a new monitor.
