Adcom gfa 555 blows the 10 amp fuse and the 6 amp fuse on the far right

Obviously you are going to use the Front pre-out's on the Sony to drive the Adcoms. its pretty straightforward, just do not use a speaker that is less than 8 ohms. and make sure that you always have the power switch off on the adcoms, let them sit off for 5 minutes, THEN hit the bridge switch on the back of the adcom's and follow their instructions for bridging. it's pretty easy and tough to go wrong. My right channel went out on my GFA 7500 and the problem was TWO blown internal fuses. Each amplifier inside the GFA 7500 has two fuses. In order to get to the fuses you must first take the top of the amplifier off by removing the screws using an allen wrench. Then put the top back on.Turn the amplifier over and remove most of the screws from the bottom to access the fuses in the bottom of the amplifier. There are two different size allen wrenches on the bottom. Be careful to not drop a screw inside the amp and make sure you line up the screw holes that hold the amps using a small screw driver to push the amps into position. I replaced all the fuses on the top and the bottom. AdCom sells the fuses on their site.

Sorry to contact you this way but i've spoken to an older colleague of mine and it appears that before 1992 in the Adcom GFA-555 they were using bipolar transistors and the amp was rated fo a minimal impedance of 4 ohms - not like in the newer ones that have MOSFETs and are rated for 1 ohm in bridge mode. So the fast fuses that you need are of 6 amps , not 20 like in the newer models.

Check the Fuse. Unplug the AC first. If you replace the fuse and it blows again, disconnect all speakers, replace the fuse and turn on. If the fuse does not blow, chances are it is a speaker problem, Adcom builds some very solid product, I would suggest pulling the outdoor speakers and testing them.
Depending on what you are using, some outdoor speakers should never be taken out of the living room. If you still have an issue post a comment and I will help some more.

Did you check the fuses in side the amp?

First of all, when bridging an anp, the impenence that it can handle usually goes UP not down. I don't believe that the GPA555 can be bridged without circuit modification.

The input jacks on a 555 are a standard gold plated, high quality jack. looking around the net, you should pay no more than 7-10 dollars each ( or just get originals from Adcom. ). What is your comfort level with electronics?. Can you solder properly?. I cant answer this without more info.....thanks...Good luck...Rob
