You need to enter the Router's Menu. Its web Based you can type http://192.168.1.1 from your web browser to get into your Router's Menu. It might come up with Username and password request put "admin" for both of them (its default).Since the Menu is very easy to understand you will find all settings including security that you needed. Make sure your laptop had DHCP enabled and Router connected to computer.

Good Luck

    Hi Again

Answer is simple; network security (WEP or WPA) key is different than regular password. Entry should be Hexadecimal, However you can use pass phrase generator by entering regular characters or you can enter directly. For example if you we want to put to "password" as network key hexadecimal input will be exactly 2B204A3F1042643E480FDD655E for 128 Bit WEP.
Hope you will resolve the issue.

    Good Luck

I cannot reconnect with my ASUS WL-520GC Router after blocking a mac address. While it was reconfiguring the new setting the connection was disconnected before it was finished. Now it has stopped work

You will need to do a "hard reset" which usually requires you to hold in the reset button (30 sec) as you turn on the device.

They always warn against changing settings over the wireless for exactly this reason.

Hi, I havent used my wireless router (WL-520GC) for approx 18 months, i just purchased a Toshiba laptop and want to connect to the internet via the router on my main P.C. Its asking me for a password...

First:
In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.

Second:
There a great article at General Router Setup.

Bought new computer and need key number for wl-520gc

Hi! there is a possibility that the wireless network of your router is secured. to check on the setup page of the router, u need to type the ip address of the router ex-192.168.1.1.. to check the ip address of the router, connect the router directly to the router and click on start, run and type cmd, dos prompt will pop up and from the dos prompt, type ipconfig/all and it will list the ip address, subnet, default gateway.. the default gateway is the routers ip address. once u got it, pull up a browser and type at the url- the ip address of the router and enter.. it will ask for the username and password, by default the username is admin and the pass, leave it blank then it will show the setup page of the router and you have to go to the wireless settings, on the wireless settings will show the type of security and password u have.. i hope this will help to solve ur concern..

I'm trying to set up my Asus Wireless WL-520GC router for vpn. It's stop at ''veryfing username and password'', then different errors. What I have to do?

Maybe you entered a wrong username and password. Just enter your username and password correctly and try it again. If that doesnt solve your problem, try to reset your router and enter the default username and password.
