On some models of refrigerators, the evaporator fan (behind an access panel at the top of the freezer) shuts off when the door is opened. This fan may be making the buzzing sound.
You should be able to check by pushing in the door switch while holding the door open. The fan should come on; and, if the buzzing resumes, you know what is making the noise. The fan may be developing a problem. If it stops running, the cold air will not be distributed properly between the freezer and refrigerator.

Hi: Go easy on my rating as this is just something to try. You say it dosn't have a dispenser. Does it have an Ice maker? If so is it hooked up? If not try raising the lever on the ice maker up to the off position. The water valve may ve trying to open and without water pressure it will make a noise. It would also be related to the switches on the door. I hope this helps, Jeff

It is possible that the hinges of your freezer has moved and shifted the alignment. So first of all use a WD40 cleaner to spray into the hinges and the areas around it. Now move the hinges violently for some time and check if has lessened. If so repeat the spraying. See if here is dirt accumulated along the hinges if the door is not moving parallel just push the end up a little . You must be able to get the hinge to shut properly by this correction. Hope you try . Good day

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.
The humming noise your hearing is the evaporator fan blades striking the ice build up on the evaporator. The fact that you have ice build up is a sure sign your refrigerator is not defrosting.
The door switch controls power to the evaporator fan.
I am going to use this model number 106.57071791 as a parts reference that MAY be different from your actual model but it is close. This model is a mechanical control refrigerator. You may have the electronic control version.
Take a look at item 6 this link:

It will be located in the top left of center & front of your fresh food compartment. It will be circular and will have 2 tabs on it with an incline so that if you were to rotate the tabs with something flat it would only turn ONE direction.
Either use your finger nail or something flat to SLOWLY rotate that until you hear an audible click. (Everyting stops but the lights) This is initiating an automatic defrost cycle. After about an hour come back and check to see if your refrigerator has re-started. If it has not restarted there is definately a problem with the automtic defrost circuit. That can be the timer (listed above), The defrost element under the evaporator, the Bi-metal thermostat on the evaporator or wiring.

If none of the links work go to http://www.searspartsdirect.com and enter your model number where it says find it fast and choose model search.
I guessed at the model number so if this does not resemble your refrigerator or you have the electonic control board type refrigerator please respond with your model number.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Hi The sound comes when there is ice build up around the fan
and the fan will hit it causing this sound. You can try to leave it unplugged
for around 4-24hrs and also make sure that the area near the back is clear so
that airflow can get through. If the issue returns then replace the thermostat.
Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance. Daniel
