Recovery disk hello i got a new hard drive and dont have the recovery disk do you no where i can get 1?

Your question is not entirely clear but typically harddisk failures come down to 3 causes:

1. Physical failure of either disks or heads, this type of failure will require an advanced recovery that will likely cost a lot of money.
2. Controller failure, if you can find an exact same drive that works you can change the board and recover the data
3. virus has wiped out part of your data or the bootable partition of the drive. This will be recoverable with software.

The sign of hard failure is no sound of disk spinning or a clicking sound as the heads try to align themselves on the disk. A controller failure usually results in a disk that is not even seen by the bios.

The procedure to restore from recovery disk will vary according to which computer you have. Usually you insert the recovery disc in CD / DVD drive after selecting boot sequence 1 from CD/DVD in Bios. You then push the power on button. Once windows boots from recovery CD it will continue with building up the new hard drive.

Dell recovery will not work in a Toshiba Laptop. Just make sure the boot order is set to CD/DVD driver first that will automatically start the CD/DVD driver when disc is loaded.

Unfortunitly, you hard drive's needle may have been knocked out of wack and will not access the data anymore. 2 solutions here:

1. New hard drive and reinstall everything. (Easy)
2. Let a data recovery provider retrive the information from the damage disk and put it on a new one. (Expensive and time consuming.)

I have a few questions for you first.1 did the new hard drive come with a disk,if so did you use it. 2 did you insert your recovery media into your drive and restart your computer

seems like its wrong recovery cd or its corrupted. contact hp for new Recovery cds and tell them about your problem. Im sure they will help you.

you should have 2 disks one recovery pro disk and one os disk. start with the recovery pro disk.

get simple windows xp you just have to format deep with emachines as ntfs ive ran windows complete programs on emachines with out a problem and created straight recovery disk simple to be ran in windows safemode

depending on which brand hard drive you have there is a couple out there that have data compression problems over 80 gig these harddrives over 80 gig have a crash ratio of 8 to 1 sea gate about 2 years ago had this problem dont know if they corrected it yet
quite possible your hard drive did not die at all but the power supply just didnt have the juice to push it check hdd by another source of power
