I have the same problem and i thought that resetting the phone may some how resolve it, but didnt, however it got sorted out when i turrned off the phone, removed the battery, put iit back on and restart the phone. Looks like the MAC address gets reset which caused the orignal problem and doing the above causes it it reset properly

Sony Ericsson finally replied to my query, they told me to just go to the nearest official Sony Ericsson repair center (they gave me a list of stores, very helpful). Initially they told me that it might need a part replacement, but they would try to fix the button by first "servicing it" (cleaning + adjusting to factory setting I suppose, but not the software since I've already done that myself). They managed to fix it that way, with no part replacement, gave me a three month service warranty and told me that should it happen several times again, I should have the part replaced already.
