Go to start then go to your control panel then go to classic view if you have vista, go to sounds, look for your mic and enable it.

Can i turn the dell studio microphone?

For to turn on the microphone ..in case it isd not working ...just double click on the speaker icon in the tray system on task bar..and the volume control will kick in ..If you have the mic displayed on the list ..just raze the volume ..and be sure is not muted...if you do not have it in the list ..click on options ..than properties..and a list with the devices will appear...check the case for the mic..in both ..playback ..and in the record list ..than ..leave it on the playback list ...and go back to the volumes...Make sure the wave is razed..and the mic volume as well...and non of the ones you have to use is muted..
after that the mic will work in any application ...if the windows default or the name of the sound driver is choosen in the options under the mic or ..in the mic area..under the reccording ..

Cd not coming out..it is running continuously.. button on keyboard not working..! this problem is with studio laptop..no tray provided..!!!!

I just followed the instructions in the manual I downloaded at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/1735/en/index.htm

It's much more narly than working in a big tower, but the only really tough part for me was lifting up the front panel just above the keyboard--I accidentally disabled the media control buttons. Apart from that it was pretty straight forward--lots of steps, but each simple.

Unable to disable touch pad

Go to Control Panel --> Mouse

Under Device Settings there is a Disable button where you can disable the internal pointing device.

With Windows Vista and newer models there is also usually a Check box where you can Disable internal pointing device when an External USB pointing device is attached.

The check box is usually the better option if available.
