Bought my hubby a Garmin 610t for Christmas and he is now finding that although his 610 is finding satellites and calculating routes no problem the voice guidance is not working. We have checked the internal speakers and have checked the settings (voice guidance option is set to "Guidance and Status"), volume is at 100%. However, his garmin is still not talking to him!!
Does anyone have any solutions to this problem at all?? I really don't want to have to send it back, but can't see any alternative at the moment.
Thanks
Anthea
First, ensure that you are using the unmuted internal speakers by pressing the power button twice while the unit is on.
Do you hear beeps (button tones) through the speakers?
These are a couple things to try:
1. Change the voice from English TTS (JILL) to English TTS (JAKE) - This will demonstrate whether the voice database has been corrupted.
2. Tap the power button twice while the unit is on to switch back to fm transmitter and attempt to use your radio to tune the sound. If you succeed here, you may indeed have a problem with your internal speaker. A return of the product may be necessary.

Yes I have exactly the same problem have tried your suggestion, but I only have one English speaking voice and that is female, so I am unable to change to a different voice.
Everything else is working on it but the voice.
yes ive got a garmin 610 and that also has lost its guidence voice, also ive only got 1 english speakin vioce and i dont know what to do. Volumes on full so i dont know what to do next only had the machine for a week
I know of two nuvi 610's that have lost their voice. One works thru the FM radio only but the second does not have a voice at all. I have verified that the unmuted internal speaker is selected. I have the normal beeps for touch screen selection and I can listen to MP3 files thru the internal speaker but no voice..
