Problem with second and third holes in chromonica 270

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me. I have just bought hohner chromonica 270. The sound is beautiful. However, the there is a problem with second and third holes. When I isolate the adjacent holes with some blu tack, there is no sound (or the sound is very weak) when I blow through the second or third holes. Is that normal?

You might find the info you need here:http://www.harmonicalessons.com/repairs_chart.html It sounds to me as if you have some stuck reeds.

I have a chromatic harmonica a hohner chromonica 12 hole and some of the reeds are a bit duff and squeak or dont work when i play. what can i do to repair it or who can i see in the devon/ cornwall area...

Sounds like you need to flush teh unit out as it has contamination. You might try using mild detergent and DE-IONIZED water.
I would first search google for "cleaning harmonica" for suggestions. You need to clean the reeds and NOT leave any residue. DE_IONIZED water should not promote rust or corrosion if dried quickly after cleaning and rinsing. I would lube the slides with CRC226 available in the electrical dept of Home Depot.

Hi Have recently purchased a Honer 280 /64

These harminicas are warranteed and rarely have problems. Either return it to the place of purchase for an exchange or contact Hohner directly. My experience with this company is that they are eager to make things right.

Recently I bought 12 hole Hohner chromatic. First

I would be tempted to try spraying CRC226 into the harmonica. It is available at Home Depot in the electrical department, usually near the electrical tape in a blue can about $2.70. It is plastic safe and is a water displacer and a very LIGHT lubricator. If there is crud in there it may dislodge it. It also is good at preventing rust and freeing rusty pliers, etc.

Hohner 12 hole Chromatic, Super Chromonica. A # is " flat."

You can take it apart by removing the two screws, see if any of the reels seem blocked or obstructed by dirt, bits of dust, oxydation (greenish crystalline stuff) or similar, try to remove the stuff that seems to obstruct the reel with a medium hardness paintbrush (you might want to use some alcohol), but be very careful not to permanently bend or otherwise damage the reels, it will ruin the sound of the harmonica.
