1) I greatly suggest against making ANY external HD your primary disk.

2) Not many computers support this.

3) The most likely method would involve reisntalling your OS (Windows/OS X) onto the drive.

4) I just noticed this thread is from three months ago... :P

The seagate freeagent 250GB is not being detected on my PC anymore, what could possibly be? I have all of my files and am unable to get them. Please help! Thxs!

Hi. Thanks for your question.

First of all you need to check few things before we can start to worry. You need to get known good cable and try this with your hard drive. You need to determine that your USB port that you used for hard drive works as well. When all this fails you need to check harddrives power supply. Is it giving right voltage out etc.
If you still didn't sort the issue out please do not hesitate to ask more questions.

My seagate freeAgent go 250GB is not working. it keeps on flashing when i connected it to my usb

If it still has a valid warranty, exercise the warranty to get a free replacement.

Otherwise, open the enclosure, and separate the disk-drive from the USB-to-disk-drive adapter, and connect the disk-drive as a 'slave' disk-drive in a desktop computer, to see if the adapter was the problem.

Seagate 250GB FreeAgent USB 2.0 Ext Hard Drive with laptop

Whether your computer is a laptop or desktop does not inherently decide if the drive will work or not. If it can't see the connection, there must be another problem with the drive. I would suggest reporting what you have done to try and make it work and anything you notice out of the ordinary (how lights on the drive are acting, noises the drive is making, alerts you see when you plug it into your laptop, etc). That will allow us to better help you find a solution to the problem.
