Morning - I was getting a flashing red light indicating change cartridge(s). Did change 3 of 4 as Yellow had half cartridge left. Tried to print but continually get flashing red ink (and power) light. I have checked that all cartridges are properly seated, turn unit on and off, unplugged / replugged, etc. all to no avail. Am I missing something? Any ideas? How can I print test page?
p.s. - I immediately changed out cartridges but did not do any apparent "change cartrdidge" function.
I too have a problem with printing and I don't think its Vista related because I have been using them together for 3 months. I did all of the same steps as described above and even tried a test printing and they all just qued up. The one difference is that I had printed a photo that was to be 2 5 X 7s and it printed one and the bottom print was skewed or cropped and I can't get the lights to change from photo to plain paper or the number of copies to change. Neither of the Start buttons do anything like feed the paperHELP!!! may ann, almiller [email protected]I too have a problem with printing and I don't think its Vista related because I have been using them together for 3 months. Hello, In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. That sounds like your problem. Also in Purchasing the Brother's . Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, etc. These printers have a chip, that will detect if it is Generic or Genunie. When using Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.
That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, but you have to fill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.
So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS.I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale.My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate.Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.
This is the only advice I can give you.If you find this helpful, pls rate me.
Remove the cart ridges, restart printer, does the lights still flash? restart printer, place cartridges back in, make sure the tape is removed from the cartridge. also you can try cleaning the contacts.
So after you have connected the carts again, restart printer. how is it?
If you need to replace an ink cartridge in your printer, please follow the
instructions below:
To confirm which ink cartridge requires replacement,
please use the printer's control panel (there is a black ink out indicator, as
well as a color ink out indicator ), or the Status Monitor in your computer.
Red light flashing - Low ink Red light solid - Out of ink
1.
Open the printer cover and press the INK (Cleaning) button for 3 seconds. The
print head moves to the center and the lights flash. 2. Lift up the ink
cartridge clamp. The cartridge rises up from its holder. 3. Remove the
cartridge and dispose of it carefully. If ink gets on your hands, wash them with
soap and water. If ink gets in your eyes, flush them immediately with water.
4. Unpack the new ink cartridge and remove the yellow tape. You must remove
the yellow tape from the top of the cartridge. Do not remove the clear seal
underneath the cartridge. Do not touch the green circuit board on the back of
the cartridge, or you may inhibit normal operation and printing. 5. Tilt the
new cartridge toward you slightly as you insert it. Lower the cartridge so that
the tabs rest on the hooks. Do not place the cartridge tabs under the hooks.
6. Press down firmly on the ink cartridge clamp until it snaps in place.
7. If you need to replace the other ink cartridge, repeat steps 2 through 6
before continuing with step 8 (to move printhead over to color (if black was
replaced first) press the cleaning button once). 8. Press the INK (Cleaning)
button once, and close the printer cover. The printer begins charging the ink
delivery system. 9. Wait until ink charging is finished (the power light
stops flashing and the red error light goes out).
have you tried pressing it down for 3 seconds? on the printer utility on your computeris there an option to change cartridge? pls check that, if all fails then that's a hardware issue. call epson for replacement.
I called a life person who finally showed me that the ink was not completely used up, although, it kept warning me it was so low. I guess from what he said it turns an orange color when completely out of ink and then the cartridge holder moves over so that the cartridge can be removed. I hope he's right. I can still print. The directions would be more helpful if this was explained.
I take all information that I read literally and completely. I'm not computer savvy!
