If you have a B&S engine look at the frist two numbers on the code. thats the year of the engine and more likelyof your unit, As long as the motor has'nt been replaced. I'll checked on your serial number did'nt find a model. If this is an old troy built I'll have to call tech support. also I need to know what engine 4, 4.5, 6, 7, 8, hr power, and the name of the teller. MTD now owens troy built.

I have a troy bilt rototiller horse, serial #7146C. Can you tell me what year it is?

Go to the Troy Built web site, find the contact phone number, call them and tell them what you want to know. Give them the serial #, and they may want to know the model also. They should be able to tell you what year it was made. Hope this helps. I will Actually see if I can find out the info for you. I will be right back. Sara I just talked to troy built, this is not the serial # this is a model number if you can check again for the complete serial# I can get you the year your tiller was made.

Hi! i have older troybilt rear tine tiller and would like tires and if possible a owners manuel the only serial # i could find is 464932. do you have access to older parts for equipment such as mine?...

http://www.mtdparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OperatorManualView?storeId=10101&catalogId=19502&langId=-1

Go to the above website and put in your model and serial number. If it is a Horse tiller just type in Horse and your serial number and you can download a copy of your operator manual. If it is the Horse model it was built between 1/1/80 and 7/1/80. i believe you have a Horse II four speed model that will just have one drive belt the older Horse I tillers were two speed with two belts.
Most any good tire shop can supply tires for your tiller or you can order them online and take then to a shop to mount for you. If your tires are not real bad they can just put tubes in them so they will hold air. Almost all parts are available through MTD who owns the Troy Bilt name now or through many sites online.

Good Luck,

Go to this website and type in Horse for your model number.Just put thenumber 1 in for your serial number and it will bring up several horse tiller manuals. If yours is a 1976 then it should be
a Horse I model. This should be a two speed tiller and have two drive belts.

Where do I find the model number and serial number, it is an old troy bilt rear tine tiller, two speed

The older models do not have an actual model number but only a name to distinguish the size. Early production models include the Horse, Pony and Junior. You must find the location of the serial number tag to order parts that will fit your particular rototiller for seamless replacement of parts. Hope this will help

Old Troy Built with model #HH60-105106F. What is

That's the engine number. It's a 6Hp Tecumseh. Go on ebay and buy the Troy Bilt parts manuals on CD for Horse Roto Tillers (if that's what it's on). I paid $8. Definitely worth it.

I have an 60's model horse tiller with an engine that has been replaced with a briggs 5hp. Where is the model and serial number located on what is left of the original? I can find a th1002 B but this does...

There is a serial number located on the top left(?) of the tranmission housing. If I had your e-mail, I could send you a list of all Troy Bilt models and serial numbers and you could take a look. Dwain

What year Troy Built Horse Tiller

The serial number is stamped on the upper right hand side of the gear housing. It is on a flat spot just above the wheel shaft. If it is a newer model it will be on a white sticker on top of the gear housing plate. If it has the T handle it is probably an older 1980's model. If you find the six digit number I can give you the year it was made.

Can i see the models from 1983 to 1985,i need a belt so i can use reverse again but i dont now my model or size. my husband died 3 years ago. if i could see some pictures from the 1980's mine has a potatoe...

Your question doesn't give enough detail to properly answer. Do you know if the tiller is a Horse model or a Pony model? Troy Bilt made both models back in the timeframe you noted. The Horse model had tires that required air to inflate. The Pony model likely had hard rubber tires in that era. The Horse models had a reverse disc, no belt. The Pony had a belt.

Once you know which model you have - look for your closest Troy Bilt dealer and see if they can track down the part for you. They might appreciate it if you could provide the serial number - which is located on the pipe connecting the tiller transmission front half to the back half, where the tines are located. It's stamped right into the metal tube on both models.

Where do i find serial numbers on troy bilt horse tillers

On the old Gardenways Horse the serial number is stamped into the top of a little flange on the side of the transmission just to the right (viewed from behind) of where the handles attach. It may be covered in gunk so a douse of mineral spirits and a little scraping will reveal it.

You can download the manual and parts list from the Troybuilt site. Enter "HORSE" for the model and the serial number.
