Cyan ink Cartridge

I got the message the Cyan and Yellow carts needed replacing. It accepted the yellow, but keeps telling me to reinstall the Cyan. There is nothing wrong with it that I can see. I opened the 2nd spare. It still tells me to reinstall. I have given up and unplugged it. It won't print a test page, clean, or anything as it says the cartridge is missing.

The black is half full. The magenta is 3/4 full. I put one Cyan in, and tried the spare cyan. It came up with the "cartridge missing, reinstall" message with both of them. I tried the spare magenta, and it proceeded to clean itself. It still won't accept either of the Cyans, so I suppose I will have to take them back as it appears they are both faulty. I haven't got any more spares. If I'm lucky the shop will be open Monday. I wanted to print off the Xmas photos, and now I can't. It won't even print a bl/wh document until the Cyan is replaced. That's pretty stupid.

Do you use generic ink carts?
If yes, try another one.

Alwasy make sure that the carts are placed well and are secured.

Answer the lcd question given by machine and check the magenta and the BK one, which could be empty, too!

Keeps saying install c

Hello,

When the printer says "install C" it is referring to the Cyan (blue) ink cartridge. If this is not a new cartridge, you might have to replace it. If this is a new cartridge, try following these steps.

1. Unplug the power cable.
2. Remove all 4 ink cartridges.
3. Close the ink cover
4. Plug the power back in.
5. Wait for the machine to warm up and tell you that the ink is empty.
6. Reinsert all 4 ink cartridges.

If you keep getting the same message you should try another cartridge. You can put the yellow cartridge in the blue spot to see if you get the same message. If you get the same message then the machine is broken. If you get a new message then the cyan cartridge needs to be changed.

Thanks,

Pat

Photosmart C5280. Instructions on photo cartridge 348 say remove both black and colour cartridges, then install photo cartridge in right hand cartridge holder. Printer screen then tells me to install...

Your printer uses the following cartridges:

HP 74 - Black ink
HP 75 - Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow ink
HP 99 - Photo Black, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta

You need Photo Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta to print photos. To accomplish this you install the HP 99 photo cartridge where your HP 74 black cartridge usually goes and you keep the HP 75 color cartridge where it's at. I don't know why your printer told you to remove both cartridges, then reinstall the HP 75 color cartridge.

Error message after replacing black ink cartridge

This happened to me twice, You can possibly have no ink in your cyan, magenta and yellow , you would then have to replace them to work the set. I had to do that and it worked =]

Changed yellow ink to new cartridge. Printer won't recognize.

I contacted the Brother site, the support function there. Pursuant to what I found there, I unplugged the printer for ten seconds and replugged. The message display then told me that cyan was empty, and that magenta was near empty.

I installed a new cartridge in place of the empty cyan, and that fixed it.

How to Override Ink Level Gauge When Using Refilled Cartridges

Above link great.
If you have a newer print cartridge cart, look for the little window. I put a sticker over the little window on the Brother (innobella) LC38 cartridge cart and it worked great :)
Despite finding a fix for this problem, I think this is a rip off setting on the brother printers and I will never buy another Brother printer for this reason.

Ink problems....

Take all carts out of the machine. Have a look into the cart holder. Is there ink swapping beneath the white plastic? (You might shake the machine ;-)

If yes, the cart holder leaks and needs replacement.

If not (your lucky!) it could be that the automatic cleaning procedure which starts when a cart is changed has soaked the carts empty.

Do set machine with date and time and NEVER unplug NOR use a power switch which breaks the power supply.

Do use constant power and switch off machine by pressing stand-by-fax-button!

Everytime when machine comes to (new) power contact it runs an extensive ink cleaning procedure. thats why your carts are always near empty....
The stand-by will prevent this and machine does some cleaning procedures which consumes only a few drops(!) of ink!

The display asks you if you have changed the carts. Do answer this question by pressing 1 for YES or 2 for NO.
This will reset the built-in inkcountermanagement to the correct settings

Will not accept new yellow ink cartridge.

Do you use generic carts?
If yes try another cart (always best: original brother carts)

PRINTER SAYS NO CARTRIDGE CARTRIDGES HAVE BEEN CHANGED

Unplug machine from power outlet. take all carts out. leave cover open. wait 5 min. plug machine to power and close cover. machine will demand carts. reinsert carts and answer question given on display.

If you still have trouble this might be due to the generic carts which have not the right construction. use original carts.
