The compressor is probably not running. most always it is the compressor relay 90% of the time. it is the plastic looking device that the wires are attached to on the compressor. this should be under a plastic cover attached to the compressor.

Freezer not freezing nor ice maker

Is the refrigerator still working? Is there any cold air in the freezer? If your compressor stopped working it would cause the refrigerator to be warm also. I had a problem with my amana refrigerator where the freezer wasn't getting cold enough and it was due to a condenser fan running intermittently. i replaced the fan and was back in business. i would check to make sure both your fan and your compressor are operating...

Freezer not freezing

When was the last time you cleaned the condenser coils? They are either on the bottom of the unit (underneath) behind the grill, or on the back of the refrigerator. Use a refrigerator cleaning brush' (available at most home centers) to do the cleaning, or call an appliance service technician to accomplish this. After that, it could also be the compressor, or the condenser fan (bottom mounted coils), or a 'freon' leak. Call a repairman then!!

Refrigerator will not cool freezer is cold

If the freezer is not getting to the freeze temp, check the defrost timer, and make sure the defrost is not staying on.Under the unit, the condenser, and fan,may need cleaning out.If it is stopped up(condenser, coil)it will not get cooled down by the fan. Then set the freezer adjustment(located in the freezer)about half way.If you do all this, give it about 8 to 12 hours to regulate. If this does not do any good, then the compressor is probably weak,so call the repair man, might need freon charge.Oh,by the way,set the refrigerator to about 7 or 8,this controls the compressor. It tells it when to cut off,and on.Check to see if the compressor is staying on until the refrigerator is cold, and the freezer is freezing. This thermostat control,of course is the one in the fridge compartment.I hope I have covered everything you need to know.If the drain,in the bottom,is constantly dripping,or running water in the drain pan underneath the refrigerator, then the defrost timer maybe staying in one spot.It would have to be replaced.Let us know if this was helpful, thank you.

Freezer no longer freezing and refrigerator is not cold enough either.

  1. check if the evaporator fan motor is running (inside the freezer)
  2. Same for the condenser fan motor on the bottom in the back of the fridge
  3. Clean condenser coils underneath or in the back of the fridge
  4. if there is a frost on the back wall in freezer - you've got the defrost problem, check defrost heater, defrost bimetal thermostat, and defrost timer

Freezer makes a humming noise and is not freezing

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Kitchenaid refrigerator w/bottom freezer french doors

please check the air flow to the refrigerator side. it could be a stuck damper motor or damper thermostat. if the fan inside the freezer is running, you should be able to feel cold air coming out off the vents in the refrigerator side. you might have to press the button light switch on the panels to run the fan.
