Onkyo HT-S6100. Receiver says NO SIGNAL and so does TV with 4 components connected via HDMI. I have tried unplugging and replugging cables, switching cables, switching inputs on receiver, etc. I always eventually get it to work but this is ridiculous. I connect components via HDMI direct to tv and have no problem, picture comes up instantly, thru receiver I get NO SIGNAL. I use a Harmony 550 remote that should do right, even using factory remotes doesn't change the outcome. Help!

I also have the very same problem. What I found is Onkyo receivers seem to have this problem with the HDMI card. I read that almost all the consumers who'va had tis problem got the card replaced, plus some transistors.
Because of that I got a little disappointed and I'm considering replacing my not a year old beautiful HT S6100 receiver for a Denon AVR-1911. I hope Onkyo fix it soon.I also have the very same problem. What I found is Onkyo receivers seem to have this problem with the HDMI card. Some of the older Mitsubishi with HD 1080 have only one component input for HD---it is marked on rear as DTV----also a model number may allow me to give another suggestion--Some of these sets (ws, wt, vs models) will on occasion lock out or disable the input/s.
Depending on model number most also have 3 hidden menus---one is the option menu----it allows with the Mitsubishi remote via a 4 digit number (by model number) to enter there and do a hard reset of the set----sets every setting back to factory original---seen it "cure" all kinds of odd problems from missing rear inputs, no sound, odd video issues---you name it.
Get me the model number and I will see if can find the code for yours--you can also try hooking first direct a 1080 blue ray or Dvd if you want to see if the input is active or not first.
I just fixed mine with the same problem. Apparently, the HT-R667 and 606 receiver that comes with 6100 has a problem with the HDMI board. Onkyo wanted $500 dollars to fix it, costed me $16.
Here's how to fix it.

There seems to be a lot of this type of lack of signal (video, audio or both) with this system. I have the same system and the same problem. Mine is working now. I'm using all HDMI connections. I think the other important thing to do is "delete" all Input Assignments that are not being used. By "delete" I mean set the Input Assignments to "----". Let me know if this helps.
My HT-S6100 had a similar problem with my DVD player and some times with my Cable/DVR box. The signal wasn't getting received at the TV. So, first I changed the input jacks my DVD and Cable box are plugged into on the receiver (e.g. from HDMI 1 & HDMI 3 to HDMI 2 & HDMI 4). Second, I reprogrammed the Input Assignments to match (e.g. HDMI in 2&4). Third, I deleted any Input Assignments that weren't applicable. For instance, I'm only using HDMI connections, but there were Digital and Component Input Assignments programmed in. When I say I deleted them, I actually set them to "----" (just scroll through the options and you'll find this.) Finally, I turn on my video/audio sources (PS3 in your case) and let them load/warm up before I turn on my Onkyo receiver. It seems to be working. Good luck.

Hi there. for your receiver, the only time it can upconvert is when you go out as HDMI. In your current hookup (component out to tv) the signal from your cable (using a composite) will not be able to pass through the component cable. This means you either have to hook up your cable box using a component cable as well or add a composite cable (yellow) from monitor out of the receiver to the tv. Page 22 of the manual will show a diagram of the video signal flow. hope this helps.. ^_^
Do you want to run all your cables thru the receiver? There really is
no benefit for you to do this since that receiver doesn't handle HDMI
audio nor do any kind of component to HDMI conversion. Might as well
connect your tivo box directly to the TV with HDMI. You'll have to switch inputs on your TV between
the cable box, but its not a big deal.
I haven't researched to actual manuals for your equipment, but I'm guessing that the optical may be disabled when the HDMI is used. You could try using the component video outputs to the TV and then the optical to the Onkyo.
