I need a manual for my necchi sewing machine. IT is cast iron and the machine lifts up from the centre of the table. It was my mother-in-law's and I do not know wht model it is. I am guessing on the model in the question below.

it looks like its made to sit into a table. if you lift it up there are labels stuck to the sides that would be just below the surface of the table so you cant read them unless you lift it up.

You can purchase a copy of the manual for $10 Here. As for valuation, this is a bit more tricky. Most Necchi's (at least the collectibles) are Italian made. The 537L was made in Japan. There isn't a great demand for this machine nor is it considered highly collectible. You'd be hard pressed to sell it for enough to buy a new machine. If you use sewing machine's I'd suggest keeping it. It was a solid machine. Otherwise, check craigslist and see what other working used machines are going for. I've seen the 537L go for $50.
The clamping yokes for Bernina sewing tables for models 830 and earlier models were hand fitted parts. Welding this may change the geometry so that the table may not fit at all. Additionally the material is diecast AL, not cast iron, and may or may not accept TIG welding applications.
