Can anyone help me on how to reset the Bios password to default on an HP Compaq 6710b Laptop? I have an HP Compaq 6710b Laptop. It is booting but it cant go beyond bios boot and i cant enter setup as it is asking for a password. I have tried removing the CMOS battery but nothing works. Where exactly is the jumper located. People keep talking about hardware reset by moving the jumper but i cant locate them on the motherboard.

A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

B. By Using Software:

I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

Power-on password on hp 8510p

Power On Password & Hard Disk Password
With your next laptop you should protect it with a Power On Password AND put a password on your hard disk. This will stop anyone from using your laptop and if they move the hard disk from your laptop to another laptop they cannot access the data on your hard disk with the hard disk password.
BUT you need to write down or remember these passwords; if you lose or forget them you cannot gain access to your laptop.
There are no backdoor passwords to remove these passwords.
To set up or change these passwords, go to the BIOS configuration - then security configuration. http://techtips.salon.com/reset-hp-laptop-bios-password-1476.html

How can i break up the Password of BIOS my LaPTOP Compaq 6710b I have purchased used Laptop

Its not possible to break BIOS password in case of a laptop, you have to go to HP service center for this. You can do this in desktop very easily by just taking out the CMOS battery and then reinserting it.

You can DO the same in your laptop also to remove the password but its highly risk cos once you opened your laptop your warranty will break if your system is under period. SO i wont suggest you to do it by yourself, better go to service center..

How do you remove the power-on password for windows Hp compaq 6710b?

Sadly, you must pull the laptop apart and reset the BIOS...well unless you know the password, then just remove it through BIOS.

I have a Hp Compaq 6710b laptop my daughter has put a bios password now i am unable to use this laptop please help me

This site will solve your problem. http://www.tech-faq.com/reset-bios-password.shtml

My suggestion is to remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard and plug it back in. This is NOT the laptop battery that you plug the power cord into.
Other than this, the software on the site I posted the link to can be burned onto a CD and then booted from on startup, these will either give you the password or take off the password completely for you.
Please rate, thanks!

Compaq 6710b all 4 usb ports not working

Hi there.
Sounds like the iphone has overloaded the system and knocked the USB controllers out.
Reboot the machine and enter the bios (this is usually F2 on start up) reset the bios to its default settings, save and exit. The laptop should then reboot and hopefully you should have USB control back.
Post back if you still have no USB.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

How to resets bios for compaq 2514 at

Why? What happend? Is it asking for a BIOS password?
If it is asking you have to short two jumpers on the systemboard to have it reset.
If not, just go in to BIOS by pressing F2 then restore or optimize default settings on BIOS.

Hope this helps...
