Hold down mute and select buttons simulatenously for 5 seconds. The green lights on the top of the remote will flicker. Punch in 10000. The lights will flash twice. Your remote will not control your TV volume, input and power. Enjoy!
It sounds lcd screen problem and lcd panel (screen) will be replaced. Please check with local tv repair shop or nearest Sony service center for lcd screen replacement.
You will have to have the factory service replace the screen. This is a very involved job. The replacement screen is available from the Sony parts department if your set model is not obsolete yet.
From experience you will find it cheaper to buy a new TV set than replace the screen!
I don't have a listing for your model, but it is not unusual for the panel to cost more than a replacement set. As another example, the replacement tube (CRT) for a 27" Sony set can easily be $700. This was when these sets were being sold for $350!! Parts is where these companies rake in big profits. Don't blame the servicer for this one.
Unfortunately it sounds like you cracked the LCD panel. This can not be repaired other than changing the panel itself. I don't have a listing for the KDL-40S2000, but similar 40" sets have replacement panels that run in the $2400 range.
