Use the installation disc included or Windows Media Player
if these don't work simply
Open My Computer then a folder should appear saying "insignia"-something , open this folder and go to Music.
Go to where your music is stored [My Music] or rip or download music and simply drag them to the music folder on your mp3player.

I can hear my music that I've had downloaded onto

You should reset your player. Go to the Settings menu, then System, then Reset Settings. You may wish to erase the current contents of the player and perform a new sync. Remember to back up your files first if needed! More details can be found in the owner's manual.

Protected mode on songs

Some (most) WMA and AAC files are protected and some are unprotected - you cannot "unprotect" them, except by downloading illegal-to-use software such as Tunebite.

To avoid a future recurrence of this problem, only load songs that are in mp3 format onto your player. They are all unprotected.

How to delete songs put onto mp3 by another computer

If you wish to remove all of the music from your device, follow these steps

1. Press the Menu button
2. Select "settings"
3. Select "system"
4. Select "erase all"

If you wish to remove certain songs but not all, Insignia recommends using Best Buy Rhapsody to manage the files on your device. The program recognizes the MP3 player and Files can be dragged between your MP3 player and Rhapsody. Even tho this perticular model is discontinued, they still have the manual online. Go to the website and put the Model number in and click the appropriate model(it shows NS-DA1G and NS-DA2G). The next page has all the manuals and information you should need

Not playing songs/ transferring to MP3 player on Rhapsody.

You probably have to redownload the songs again. Forget about the pictures, this player is pretty buggy, it's not worth it.

Download ITUNES to a regular MP3 player.

First off...I'm sorry. This isn't going to be super-simple or automated.

The Insignia MP3 players play MP3 and WMA audio files only (okay...and audio books). If you have a pretty nice collection of unprotected music files that you have purchased from iTunes, then you'll be able to do this conversion.

The Insignia player will not sync with iTunes...the program and the player are not compatable. You do not need to use Windows Media Player to load music on your Insignia player.

Here's the process:

Set your Insignia player to Mass Storage or "File & Folder". This makes it look like another drive to the computer.

Open iTunes.

Navigate to the Options or Preferences area (it's different depending on whether you use a Mac or a PC), select the BURN tab and set the file format to MP3 and the quality rating you desire (I suggest either 128kb or 192kb).

Select the songs you want to put on your player.

Tell iTunes to "Conver to MP3" the songs you have selected.

Once these files are copied as MP3s, Navigate to the iTunes folder (should be in My Documents/My Music/iTunes). I reccommend placing a shortcut to your iTunes folder on your desktop for future use.

Drag and Drop your music files to your Insignia player.

You're good to go. Unplug the Insignia player and enjoy!

I need da cd

Hi,
Have you tried contacting Insignia. They may provide you with a download link for the drivers/software you need.

You should be able to connect your player even without the software. Windows should detect it once the USB is plugged in. Just drag and drop the songs you want onto the device.
