I need a software driver for a 6 foot USB to Serial cable that I bought at Radioshack over five years ago. I no longer have the driver CD and was told to call Radio Shack, and they referred me to you. Do you know which software I could download to fix my problem?

it's in your computer control panel - you need to assign the com port to the cable - it took me a few tries.

In the long run, I bought the Editor Lite software for $120 on ebay - it comes with a USB dongle - that solved all my issues other than assigning the com port to the serial port. It all works like a charm now.

Sounds like you need to install drivers.
Tell me the manufacturer and model number of the foot pedal. I'll track down a driver for it.

I bought usb to serial cable from ebay with driver software for less cost and then download driver from Wacom for Artpad II (KT series). My laptop is Window XP. Had both drivers installed and it works. I can start my homework with it. Really, I just use it.

No need for disc, don't worry.

The answer is all in the serial number you use to install the DSS player!

Look carefully and you will see the recorder disk has in my case an [E] printed above the install serial number and the transcription pedal has [T]

Install the same disk with the E the driver is there, the control in Control Panel is there, but the foot switch does not work with the software. Put in the serial number with the [T] and foot switch works first time!

If you uninstall the play and then reinstall with the [T] serial number you do not need to reboot or even unplug the foot switch from the USB.
