My magnavox tv is making a buzzing sound, no picture, and wont change channels (just a dark screen)

change your settings from natural to brillent on your tv , note the bulb wont last as long on brillent because of the extra power it takes to run it , try that and see if its what your looking for

The power supply startup resistors on the inverter board may have changed values. Youwill have to replace the inverter board. Thanks for asking !

There are several possibilite here, including the power supply, video amplifer circuit, and high voltage.

However, there is a componet on the main board that is the most likley fault. R3455 should be inspected and repaired or replaced as necessary.

Hello, it sounds like your inverter board is goin out on the set, when you change channels if you notice on almost any TV the screen goes dark and the new channel appears, it sounds like you are not getting enough power out of the inverter board to power up the backlight enough to come on. This is why the sound remains because everything else works fine and the sound is connected to the main board.

hi i have a 50" magnavox that has a problem, i was looking at several websites and i find out the dirfferent posibilities.
in your case i have 2 posibble answers.
1) negative image
tv turns on and shots down in 2sec
flashing pixels on screen
dark image
has sound but no video
screen goes black and then return to normal picture
vertical color lines on screen no video
vertical color lines with video
vertical bars on screen
horizontal lines on the image
picture goes red after while
IT COLUD BE (X or Y or Z SUSTAIN BOARDS )

2) just left part of screen working
just right part of the screen is working
vertical and horizontal lines on screen
part of screen not working
some functions not working
no video but has sound
functions not working at all
IT COULD BE (LOGIC CONTROL BOARD)

checked the vedeo section of the main PCB of the unit, maybe some defective parts, try to look the back of the picture tube if theres a light, if none, cheke also the horizontal section, especially the flyback transformer

my philips projection tv model number 50pl9126d/37 has a dark screen

It is hooked up to Direct TV. When I change the channel on the TV to another input it looks fine but without a picture. as you do not see tint in another channel means your color section is ok it is due to video or luminance section.

Are you using the video input? Do you get on screen display? If so you probably have the video (yellow) wire connected to one of the audio inputs.
