If you press feature 981 does it say pswd:, log:, or inactive feature?
Good, I thought the voice mail was not operating for a moment. What steps are you taking to get the "inactive mailbox" message?
i.e. calling into the auto attendant or ringing the extension etc.
If you press the voice mail button on a set and it says log: that means that extension doesn't have a voice mail box. when transfering a caller to a mail box are you transfering via feature 986 ?
lets check to see inf the mailbox/s are still there or not.
try feature 983>1020000>mbox>chng>the extension number your trying to transfer to. The screen should say password reset if theres a mail box. if not it will say its an invalid extension.
Try inputing feature 983 with a password of 266344. if so that means the voice mail defaulted

unfortunately, yes thats done by press feature 983 the screen should say log:
enter 1020000 (default password) if you have a 3 digit intercom number, 120000 if you have a 2 digit intercom number
the display should say mbox, AA, and othr above the three soft keys
press the mbox soft key
the screen should say add, del, and chng above the soft keys
press add and enter a mailbox number
the type of mailbox should be subscriber
COS can be 1, 3, 7 or 11 (3 and 11 give you a 90 day reset on your password)

transfers blind

I am pretty technically challenged. All I know is that we've had this system probably 10-12 years and voice mail worked before - but now we get a message of "invalid mailbox" for all phones.
It says Log
when a call comes in I'm trying to transfer it to a mailbox so they can leave a message. Do I maybe need to re-set all of the mailboxes????
we have a button dedicated to feature 986 so yes.
as soon as we type in the feature 983- 1020000 it goes back to exit.
I am leaving for the day but will check this tomorrow for any other suggestions. Thank you so much for taking the time to help with this.
that took me back to the original set up I guess - asked for bilingual, amount of mail boxes, etc. does that mean that now I have to re-set each mailbox?

Was the voice mail hooked up to the cics previously and what kind of voice mail is it?
