SOURCE: I have a Whirlpool side

Humm thats a good one, but I will try to help you out. First off you say the icemaker is new, so does that mean you bought the icemaker and installed it on the refrigerator. Or is the refrigerator new and it has an icemaker. If you installed the icemaker new on an older refrigerator you can have a few problems. Most likely the freezer is not getting cold enough for the icemaker to cycle on its own. Especially if you are peaking in every few minutes like I would be doing. The icemaker will start a new cycle when the temperatur hits 0 degrees. If the freezer is only getting to 5 degrees the icemaker will not cycle. In that case the problem would be with the refrigerator not the icemaker. If the freezer is getting to 0 degrees then you may want to take that icemaker back and get a replacement. Good luck and I hope I helped. [email protected]

SOURCE: Whirlpool Side by Side Ice Maker Not Making Ice

If you have the type of ice maker that has an ice bin on the freezer door, then there are instructions available at www.AnyoneCanFixIt.com to fix the ice maker problem. They also sell the part that is sometimes required to repair this common problem on the ice maker. The problem is notorious on these refrigerators that were made around 2004 and later. The ice maker will usually go out within 1-2 years. They have redesigned a part to eliminate the problem.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Ice Maker Won't release ice

Jetguy77,

I have a 1993 year (16 years old now) Whirlpool side-by-side with icemaker, Model ED22PW. I have had similar problems with the icemaker - water goes in, freezes, but ice does not eject from tray. It has happened to this unit 2 times since 1993. It turns out the problem is not the thermostat. It is the icemaker motor module. The icemaker has a small synchronous (clock) motor that rotates the ice ejector. When it goes bad, the ejector does not rotate, either because the module timer had failed or the motor itself has failed. The solution is to go to your nearest applinace parts dealer and by a new "icemaker motor module" for Whirlpool Model (your model here). Mine cost $58.85 the last time I replaced it in 2006. To install the new module, you will need to remove the icemaker from the refrigerator. Mine has 3 screws that attach it to the side. Also unplug the power & control cable. The water tube slides out when you pull the unit forward. When you get it out, it is then easy to remove the motor module and insert the new one. You may have to reset the timer on the module to get the tray to fill completely.

Are you getting any water.
If you push the tab for water any you hear a buzzing or humming sound with no water then it could be you water pump which is located at the back of the fridge.
Just follow the water line and you will find it .
It's a small pump

Whirlpool Gold Ice Maker problem Model # GS6NBEXRS00

I hate to ask the obvious but is your water supply turned back on since the filter change?
  • It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these:

    • If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire.

    • If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire.

In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

  • The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary.

  • The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

Ice maker not workin

ok as far as the water in your door goes sounds like the micro switch is getting a little gummy and sticking this happens when people dump ice in sweet drinks and some splashes up locate the switch and spray a little wd 40 on it as to you ice it is on a separate valve as the water in the door so the water flow don't mean a lot in this case remove the front plastic cover on the icemaker and you will see a bunch of little holes make a jumper wire out #10 or 12 house wire strip about 1/4 inch off the ends an insert in the holes marked t&h this will start a test cycle make sure yuo hold the plastic insulation so you don't get bit if the ice maker starts cycleing remove the wire and watch for it to stop listen for the icemaker valve to open if the ice maker finishes and the valve didnt fill replace the water valves if the icemaker doesnt cycle and yuo may have to kinda twistm the jumper back and forth to get it to make contact depending on the gauge you used then replace the ice maker motor module if you hear the valve open and the ice maker doesnt fill check for a frozen ice fill tube that should do it
