I'm not sure, but soesn't the Freeagent come pre-formatted? You might try formatting it through the MacSoftware (I'm not exactly a Mac expert)

My Seagate FreeAgent Go250GB become write protected for Macbook, but works fine on windows laptop. How can I fix this issue?

It's probably formatted to the wrong filesystem; Macs prefer HFS+, Windows prefers NTFS, but they both can read and write FAT32. I'd recommend using the Mac's Disk Utility application to reformat the drive to be FAT 32 (but be careful, this will erase the external hard drive, so back up first!)

Installing 1tb External Hardrive from Freeagent onto Macbook Pro

I would be tempted to format the drive using the disk utility whch can be found under applications and then utilities once opened choose your drive in the left hand window and on the right hand side click on erase. If you are using the Seagate drive for the Mac only, format it as a Mac OS Extended (journaled) Choose your volume format and name and then erase. Hope this helps.

I have Seagate - FreeAgent Go 500GB External USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive, I formated with MAC now is now detected by my PC. What should I do?

Open up the control panel with the drive connected, open administrative tools and computer management. Select storage and see if the drive is listed there. It will probably let you format it from there.

Is this a new hard drive that you are using?
Once plugged in, you can right click on My Computer and choose Manage. From here select Disk Management under Storage. If the USB or Firewire cable work properly, you will see the drive listed. Here you can Format it and assign a drive letter. Here is the instructions from Seagates website.
