Isn't KSM90 the model number?

Are there any colors on the resistor or it is missing. If you know what the voltage and current should be in the circuit you can calculate the resistor value.

You have a Hobart K45 that was produced up to 1978 when the SS model was started. You will have to search on the internet to find the capacitor or one of equal value, Also try eBay. You will need the numbers of the capacitor to do your search, which means taking the machine apart. Several models and manufacturers were used during the production of the K45 as it was made from 1962 to 1978, so the values of the capacitor are the same but the maker and size would or might be different. I have found them as rectangles and cylindrical in shape. The other option is to find another machine at a yard sale and keep it for parts. You might also take the capacitor to a real electronics shop for help in locating a replacement, (Radio Shack will not be able to help) You need a shop that deals with the electronics of machines. like a ham radio or a cb shop that does modifications or the like. I know this sounds daunting but the search and repair will be rewarding as when you are finished and the machine is back up and running you can say "I did that". Also as long as you have the machine torn down I would replace the power cord your re-assembly will be easier to complete. Hope this helped.

Depending on the make and model of your appiance and the type of motor used the capacitor would vary in shape and size. Usually cylindrical or square. Either plastic or aluminium casing. It will be connected across the motor windings. Look for a rated value printed on it in micro-farads.(uf) and a voltage.

Your information is correct on pre 1978 K45 models that the capacitor is bad, but it might be cheaper to go garage sale hunting and find a second machine as the parts are no longer made and having spares on hand may be a significant advantage in the future, also there are a great many of the K45SS parts that will also repair the K45 mixer so it may not be a practical solution. Watch ebay regularly for K45 parts, they come up every couple of months. On the parts diagram also look for the K5 diagram as it is identical to the K45, one is a 5 quart mixer and the other one is 4.5 quart, same parts same motor same everything.

I have found that the capacitor is no longer available, along with
any of the motor parts. Armature, brushes, motor end bearing, etc, are not available.
