You can just piggyback the mixers - take the outputs from the mackie mixer (assuming it is NOT a powered mixer) ... those should be line level outputs - send them into a line level input on the digi 002 and then set that channel on the digi 002 and once set, just leave it, and control the mackie channels individually ... should work fine ...

Your digi 002 goes via the main out left and right into your choice of LINE LEVEL inputs on the mackie mixer. Your computer will also go into a pair of LINE LEVEL inputs on your mackie. Then, your mackie's main outs get connected to a power amp that drives your speakers, or directly to self powered speakers via the main xlr outputs.

Mackie 402VLZ4 4 how to connect to pc

It depends on what I/O is available on your PC. If it has an analog input (typically a stereo 3.5.mm connector), you can connect that to the mixer's Tape Out connections (cable needs 2 RCA plugs on one end, 1 3.5mm stereo plug on the other).

If the PC only has USB or Firewire connections, you need a computer interface. Something like an M-Audio M-Track or PreSonus AudioBox USB. Connect from the mixer Tape Out to the line inputs on the interface. Connect USB (or Firewire) from the interface to the PC.

Can i use the 002 rack as a standalone mixer without pro tools running

Unlike some RME products, the 002 rack has no ability to run as a standalone mixer. All routing/mixing is controlled via the pro tools software.

My laptop is feeding through my Xenyx 1622fx mixer and output to my Mackie SRM450's. Getting the 'hum' which is a fuzzy noise. Is this solved with ground loop box?

Try hooking your mixer up to your Mackies without the laptop. Does the hum go away? Try hooking your laptop output up to the Mackies without the mixer. Does the hum go away? Make sure that all your power cables run from the same outlet and have the ground or third pin intact on the plug. Also make sure that you are using shielded cables for any connection that carries an audio signal. This includes the cables going to your Mackies as they are powered amplified monitors. Make sure that the cables to your Mackies are balanced and haven't been altered to unbalanced. You will need to use unbalanced cables from your laptop unfortunately but try to find ones with a shield and three conductors ( right and left signals and a common or ground) that have a separate shield from the common. The shield should only be connected to common at the output of the device where the signal starts. A better explanation is at these links:http://www.epanorama.net/documents/groundloop/ also http://www.epanorama.net/documents/groundloop/cable_shielding.html
