You'll need your PC as the intermediary. You'll have to do a USB export of the tracks you want from the DP01 to your PC and then connect the 2488's USB to the PC and do a USB import of those tracks into new tracks on the 2488.

Page 40 of the DP01FX manual will explain using the USB connection and page 43 details the steps for performing a USB export.

In the 2488 NEO manual refer to pages 80 and 81 for using the USB connection and importing the tracks.

Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Can't figure out how to mix down tracks to stero master on 2488 mk 2

Your owners manual can be found at manualslib.com by searching your model number and choosing manualslib under the heading TASCAM 2488MKII OWNER'S MANUAL Pdf Download.
Tascam has a help line at 323-727-7617. If you haven't done your homework in deciphering the users manual, I would not call them. Their service is free, but their on phone time for help is limited and they can be quite surly.

On my tascam 2488 neo, ive recorded a song that is 2min16sec. i set my in at zero and out at 2min23. i hit mixdown and then try to hit play and record and the record button will not light up or actually...

I think if you had the manual you would know the answer to the last question.

Tracks must be a minimum of 4 seconds long (page 118)

Recently purchased the Tascam 2488 Neo Digital/Microphone Effects

Assuming you have your mic plugged in properly and all is working well save for this one issue, do as follows: press the SELECT button on the track/channel which has the mic on it. Then press the SEND button over to the right of all the tracks. The button is right under the EQ button. After you press the SEND button, a screen opens up and you can send reverb to that channel/track...as much as you want. I hope this helps.

I want to sing over disk soundtrack.I have tascam neo. Please tell me how to do that,Thank you

The best way to accomplish this would involve ripping the sountrack from disk first using your PC to create a wav file and then importing the resulting stereo wav file into a pair of tracks on the 2488 NEO.

The process for ripping would depend on whatever software you use to rip from the CD (lots of free ones available out there) and the process to import a stereo wave into the 2488 NEO would be detailed in your 2488 manual on pages 81 and 81.

Hope this helps.

Making Midi Files for Importing to Tascam 2488

Hi,

You should always work in wav format if possible because there is a loss of quality with mp3 which is a compression format in which bits are lost in order to compress the file size.

There are a number of wav editors available which will allow you to load a stereo wav and then save it as a mono wav. The free one I use is called Audacity.

When working with FL or Reason I will sometimes import files to the Tascam, or I will take the outputs from my PCs sound card and line them into the tacams inputs and record them live. I only tend to do this with programs (like synths) where I am using an external midi keyboard and can play live what I want to record.

With basic drum pattern tracks I'll usually create them on the PC, save as wav, convert to mono, and then import to a track on the Tascam.

hope this helps.

Tascam 2488 Portastudio

To record the eight inputs onto 8 separate tracks at once simply plug your mics or other audio sources into the mic inputs (only 4 can be powered, A-E) and then assign each input to a separate track by pressing the input button which corresponds to one input and then the select button for the desired target track at the same time. Do this for all eight inputs and their target tracks. Then arm all eight tracks to record by pressing the record buttons on each (the red lights will come on). Then when you press play and record in the transport section (or use punch operations) you will record all eight inputs to all eight tracks at the same time.

Good luck.

2488 to pro tools

There is no way to 'sync' with protools from the 2488. In order to use your 2488 tracks in protools you have to first export your tracks as wav files and move them to your computer via usb and then import them into protools.

To get Protools files into your Tascam 2488 you'll have to export your Protools files into mono wav files first. They must also have a sampling rate of 44.1KHz and can be either 16 or 24 bit. Then load these files into your 2488 via usb and import them into tracks on the 2488.
