Our Automated Attendant for our Norstar M7310 is picking up the wrong message. Where do we change that?

It is picking up a message that is not even recorded in the Automated Attendant messages. We have 9 recordings for AA for after hours and it is not using any of those 9. It is picking up the message that the phones roll to during the day when they are not answered with a set number of rings.

  • elaine_stone Oct 14, 2009

I meant to say "not answered within a set number of rings". I do not know where to go to assign message #1 to the AA. That is the message it should be using for after hours calls.

  • elaine_stone Oct 15, 2009

On our M7310 phone system we have several incoming lines that have different after hours messages. One of our incoming lines is set to greeting table 1 which is the correct message for that line. But the message that it is picking up instead is a message that was recorded on extension 2221 (the receptionist's ext.) that says "if you are getting this message during business hours everyone is on the phone". This message is only recorded on this one extension and is not even in the greeting table. We don't know how to fix this!

  • elaine_stone Oct 16, 2009

No, this phone number does not ring on ext. 2221.

Since we have several incoming lines/phone numbers how do I find out which line number is assigned to this particular phone number?

When you say its picking up with the wrong message do you mean that its playing the night message or is it playing something entirely different?

Assigning messages is done by
feature 983>1020000>AA>Table>table 1>Greeting Type
depending on how you have the business hours times set it'll play the greeting you want. Typically I set the greeting type as morning:1, afternoon:1, Evening:1 and Non-business:4. then under business hours I set them up as mon- fri morn:0800am, aft:0800am, eve:0800am and nonb: 0500pm. sat and sun as morn:1200am, aft: 1200am, eve:1200am, and nonb: 1159am
press Rls when finished
that way when a caller calls between 8am and 4:59pm they get the day greeting and from 5pm to 7:59am they get the night greeting (greeting 4) saturday and sunday play the night greeting all day.
Dont forget to record greeting 4 as your night greeting.

Its my guess that the line thats answered by greeting 1 also rings on ext 2221.In that case what you need to do is program the auto attendant to answerthe line before the foward no answer on that mail box (or delay the forward to VM on that extension) .

feature 983>1020000>AA>Lines>enter in the line number >press the table soft key then the lines soft ley>Chng>rings:3>ok>Rls

that should take care of the extension trying to answer the line.

To find out which lines the extension has, you need to enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344.
The screen should say TERMINALS&SETS. The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming.
At the terminals&sets prompt, press the show key (top right arrow). The display should now ask for an extension number. Enter 2221.

Press the show key (top right arrow)
The display should sat LINE ACCESS
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display should say LINE ASSIGNMENT.
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display ask for a line number. press list
The display should list the lines that appear on that setby pressing the next key (lower right arrow)
press the release key when finished

How do I turn off the auto attendant on my Norstar M7310?

It depends. Go into feature 983, default pwd of 1020000 for 3-digit extensions. Go into AA, Table, Table 1, and change the option for the AA to N. If you're using a CCR tree, you'll have to go into Table 1 and disable the tree under Morn CCR and all the CCRs that follow.

After I change the greeting on the auto attendant on a Norstar M7310 I don't get an option to save, how do I save it

You cannot change the active message. Make it inactive, change it, then make it the active message.

Call display won't work as the phone system M7310 keeps picing up on the first ring. I have changed the Auto Attendant and the ccr # of rings but that doesn't help

Try this - keep the handset in the cradle and press:
"Feature 9 8 2", the system will prompt you for a password.
The default password is: "O P E R A T O R"
Scroll through the items by pressing "Next".
The "Answer Lines" should be changed to N(o) to stop the Auto Attendant from answering. You will need to wait at least 2 rings for the system to process the Caller ID info & display it on the phone.
Good Luck!

It may be that you have the forward no answer parameter set to 1 ring on ANY of the phones you have programmed to ring on those lines. Make a call to your system from your cell and see what answers....the auto attendant (you can dial another ext) or a voice mail box. If your system is equipped, we offer remote programming services.

We have the Norstar Meridian (M7310) telephone system and would like to change after hours message. I cannot locate this information in our book. How do we change it?

To re-record greetings, enter Feature 983. if your system has 2 digit intercom #s your default password is 120000 if your system has 3 digit intercom #s your default password is 1020000. once you have entered the password you will see 3 selections you can make .use the three soft keys under the display and select AA (auto Attendant). next press greeting and greeting again. next it'll ask for the greeting number your probably working with greeting either 2 or 4 (you might want to listen to the greeting first). press record to start and ok when finished. dont forget to save the greeting or it will be deleted if you exit early. hang up when finished

Norstar M7310 auto attendant problem

As far as changing the # of rings, that may be your phone company. Feature 983 will get you in to change to number of rings. It goes as follows:
Feature 983
System coordinator mailbox # and password
OK
AA
Lines
Enter Line Number
OK
Table
Rings
CHNG
Enter the desired number of rings
If after changing the number of rings the Auto atendant does not pick up at all, You have to call your phone company and set up the second delay through them. We had the same problem here.
