I cant print word documents. It says printer is idle when you hit the find printer tab.
Can print webpages, photos fine just not word.

I have encountered this problem, wherein I can print webpages, excel, pdf files, but not in Microsoft Word.

I received error "Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup".

I got it resolved by following the instructions given by Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826862

Specifically the steps under 'Delete the Word Data key'.

Press START - Control Panel - Printers and Faxes - double-click Printers and Faxes. Perform checks on:

1. The printer must be in a position Set as Default Printer (see picture)
2. Status = Ready (see picture)
3. Docs = 0. If there is a number 1 or 2 or 3, cancel all the print command, by the way: double-click the Canon MP250 Printer series - click Printer - click Cancel All Documents
4. The printer must be in a position online (see picture)

that sounds like one of the scanners bulbs is not working correctly. since the unit is most likely still under the one year manufacturer warranty I would recommend that you contact the manufacturer for warranty replacement.

Just bought a canon MP270. Printed the first page fine but now smudging badly. Tried nozzle cleaning x3, bottom plate cleaning and printer head re-alignment. All making it worse. Help!!

you use a non-orignal ink cartdrige, and you have contaminaded the printer, need to clean inside, if not already dead.

Only printing colors

First thing to do is change the cable, and uninstall/reinstall the
printer... correctly.

When trying to print color documents or photos using our Canon MultiPASS 700, the photo or document will have stripes all the way through it. It has also developed a problem of having fine lines that do not print when we are printing a black and white document.
