When switched on in the morning sometimes says toner is empty but it is not - re-boot and it works OK. Marks on paper and squeaking noise/ Minolta 2300dl

Pl. do test as per following.
1- empty paper tray.
2- pull the toner cart. and close the door.
3- power ON the printer. Listen the sound of initial motor run,
(If smooth not grinding noise, check the toner cart OPC drum for jam. If yes check the fusser drive gear and fusser gear and assembly)
If all are ok.
4- Check the paper pick up roller shaft, (sometimes it takes a bunch of paper and jammed if you forcible pull the bunch in reverse direction the shaft may gets bend cause the grinding noise during paper pickup. in that case you have to replace the paper pickup shaft.

A squeaking noise? The first possibility is a remnant of paper from a paper jam, causing the noise. You may be able to isolate this to a paper draw issue. To do this, remove all but one of the drawers. Do a test copy. Repeat this until all drawers have been eliminated. If it is a paper drawer issue, the take-up rollers (in the middle of the take-up edge) can be cleaned with a cloth dampened with mild liquid soap. If it isn't a paper drawer, the next possibility is the paper-path, up the right hand side of the copier. There are a number of 'doors' that can be opened. Check that the rollers and paper path is clean. If these two possibilities are eliminated the next issue is the fuser unit, the transfer unit, the toner cartridges or a cooling fan. These items should be directed to a service technician.

You need to localize the problem, does the noise occures eg when the toner wheel is turning or when paper gets picked up, or when it passes trough fixing assy....

very annoying message i agree - most likely caused by toner dust.

The printer uses a carousel to rotate the toner cartridges. Dust and toner can easily spill as the cartridges rotate. The error can appear at any time but seems to be most annoying after a paper jam or other error. It is also important to make sure that the cartridges themselves are clear of toner dust. Pay particulair attention to any copper contacts on the cartridge.

For a possible fix to the Brother HL-2140 squeal/squeak/noise problem open the printer at the other side from the paper tray and toner cartridge door. You should see a little black roller rod along with some white wheels.

The noise may be coming from the contact between the wheels/rollers which pull paper toward the output tray on top after it has been printed.

Check and clean/wipe the wheels and black rod, especially in the center area. Hopefully the noise will now be reduced/eliminated.

I am assuming you have checked the paper feeder traying isn't part feeding?

Check the internal unit closest to the toner drum, sorry this is not specific advise for the Minolta fuser unit. You are looking for a lever that slides out revealing the paper it has collected from internal jams - Usually the lever is to the side just above or below the toner unit.

If this doesn't work check the paper loading tray(s)

The Printer needs the preventive maintenance to clean the grosses and rubber rollers from toner by facility for rubber and clean whole way for paper.
