Why won't the washer drain? Pump appears to be

Why won't my Maytag neptune washer drain? Pump appears to be working (removed and tested) cleaned all lines - is it possible there is too much back pressure? Also, with all of the drain hoses off there appears to be water between the tub and the basin that will not drain.

If this issue is because you hear water in the machine when the tub spins......
thats normal, its called the balance ring
centrifical force, pushes the water in the lid, outward helping to use the sling weight, as a counter balance
its 100 percent normal to hear sloshing when turning the tub by hand

Belt, Water Pump If the washer won't drain the pump belt might have broken or might have worn out. Check the belt and replace if it shows signs of excessive wear.

Drain Pump If the washer won't drain water the drain pump might be defective. It's also common for a small sock or other article of clothing to get caught in the drain pump or in the drain hose. Check both for an obstruction before replacing the pump.

Clogged Pump or Hose If the washer won't drain there might be a clogged pump or hose. It's common for small socks or other small clothing items to get into the water drain system and clog the hose leading to the pump or the pump itself. Remove the hoses from the pump in order to remove the article of clothing. Keep in mind that any water in the washer will pour out of the hoses when removed.

Drive Belt If the washer won't drain, should check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't drain properly, if at all.

Lid Switch Assembly If the washer won't drain the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't drain the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Drain Hose If the washer won't drain water check the drain hose. Be sure the hose did not get kinked behind the washer. Also, remove the hose from the pump and check it for obstructions.

Coin Trap If the washer won't drain the coin trap may be clogged. This washer is equipped with a device near the water pump called a coin trap. The purpose of this device is to trap any foreign materials that make their way down the drain. Normally, the coin trap can be accessed through an access panel. It is designed with the homeowner in mind and is normally easy to clean out.

I have a Maytag Neptune TL Washer that won't drain. I think the drain pump is clogged. How do I remove/disassemble the cabinet so I can get to the drain pump?

See this link for the Service Manual and a pic of Drain Pump/Drain Line on the right side of the machine. leaking at bottom of washer after it spins out not alot of water but a pain in the ****, how do you

You can place the machine in Service Mode once you have the Service Manual and turn on the drain pump thru console commands.

As I mention in the other post here on FIXYA you can only access the drain pump with the front cover removed.

If you place the machine in a Spin Only cycle will it complete the cycle?

If you can give a bit more detail on your troubleshooting maybe I can help.

What does the nd Error Code mean on a Maytag Neptune frontloader??

ND== No Drain.
You likely need the drain pump cleaned. Unplug and pull the washer out. Remove cover in back. The pump is attached to the washer's floor. Pinch off the hose from tub to pump. There's going to be some water left in the pump and drain hose, so get a large towel ready. Remove screws attaching black piece (motor) to white piece (housing), pull out motor and clean the housing and motor impeller. Wear gloves, as it's always a nasty stuff what comes out. ;) Reverse steps to assemble the pump back together. If you don't hear pump running after completing all the cleaning, you may need to check the wiring and/or replace main control board located inside the console. If the pump seems to be running but no water is being drained - replace pump. for Maytag MAH5500B the part number is 25001052.

Good luck!
