What is the maximum size of hdd to used with abit kv7

Good day sir/maam, yes you can use a 1 TB HDD, get the SATA version depending on the bios but im not sure it be compatible with SATA1 on your motherboard, any new hard disk canor cant be read by any old motherboard, you may have problems with SATA versions, there are 3 versions, but the problem is the response of the hard disk. The rule of thumb, fast motherboards, for large hard disk, because it can access large amount of data very fast usually they are SATA3. So slow motherboards with large hard disk is kinda slow, you be bored. I suggest you stick on the recommended hard disk. If you want extra storage, get 3 hard disk and daisy chained them as master/slave.

Abit motherboard problem/HD

Hi coonster,
Actually you can do more. If you haven't updated windows please do so! Once windows SP2 has been fully updated & running correctly use windows disk management utility.
To load windows utility click the start button & type diskmgmt.msc in the run windows, click ok.
Windows may have added another drive letter to your drive because of the 137GB block. Use disk management to delete any added drive letter. Window disk management can add the additional space to your C: drive. If windows still gives you a hard time I suggest you download partition magic 8.0 or 8.1 from this site. (Its free). Install partition magic & use it to regain all your of the drives data space.
