It all depends on the tools you have and if you have patience....this is the task for removing and replacing the switch:

Removal & Installataion
CAUTION These models covered are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS and refer to the precautions in the Chassis Electrical Section.

  1. Make sure the steering wheel is in the center position (wheels in the straight ahead position)
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable first, then the positive cable.
  4. Wait 10-20 minutes for the back-up power to discharge. Do NOT proceed until the back-up power is discharged from the SRS system!
  5. Remove the driver’s side air bag module and steering wheel, as outlined under the Steering Wheel Removal & Installation procedure in this section.
  6. Remove the steering column nacelle, as follows:
    • Open the fascia lower access panel.
    • Remove 3 screws securing steering column nacelle halves together.
    • Release clips securing nacelle together and remove from steering column.

My 2000 Durango, no turn signals or hazards. Fuses are all ok. The indicator lights don't even light up.

According to the manual, there are two fuses for the turn signals/hazard lights, Fuse D in the power distribution center (in the engine compartment), and Fuse 10 on the Junction Block (left side of the dashboard assembly). Also on the junction block is the combination flasher unit. If these all check OK, you'll need to check the wiring and connectors from the junction block to the combination switch on the steering column, and the combination switch itself.

My windshield wipers will not turn off and I have no turn signals.

I think your combination switch is malfunctioning. The switches that control both the wipers and the
turn signals are built into the combination switch. And the headlight controls too on some cars.

Your car may have a switch that controls the wipers and the turn signals, but not the headlights.

But whether you have the type that controls wipers/turn signals/headlights or just turn signals/wipers Im not sure, you didnt mention the specific year and model. But you should replace the switch that controls your wipers/signals. They are expensive sometimes, especially if you have the combo switch that controls wipers, headlights and turn signals. But you can find one at a slavage yard for a lot less money than new.

But you should put the year/model of your car when you post a problem youre having. That makes it more likely that someone can help.

Headlights, dome, and dashlights are out on my 97 grand marquis . Do I need to look at the fuse box or the power distribution box for my problem?

For the head light power distribution box not only is it fused its a circuit breaker fuse that means it quickly restore the short then light up get a short then light up, that a circuit breaker. what you really need to look for is a switch that failed. Here is how it works some model have a switch and a combination switch. or just a combination switch. if you have a switch and a combination switch here is how it works power reside in the switch then travels to the combination then to the headlamps. then there is combination it self. power reside in the juction box and the switch just sullpies the signal to the relay that turns on the headlamp. did i confuse you? then take a easy route inspect for open fuses in the juction box, might as well do the fuse box. if it looks good replace the comination

2003 Cadillac Escalade, wipers stay on. Remove and replace fuse, wipers stop, until they are turned back on and run for short length of time. Is is an owner replaceable problem?

I had an older car with the same problem. it is most likely the combination switch on ur steering column where u turn ur wipers on and off which is difficult to replace without the right tools. i would leave it to someone with electrical background. Also, these switches can be expensive. I would check if u have a recall or a warranty.

Not turn signal or lowbeams

Sounds like a failure of the combination switch (the lever/stalk assembly with the headlight lever and turn lever on it). You have to remove the airbag and steering wheel to replace it. It's not a terribly difficult job, but you do have to take care with dealing with the airbag. You can buy the new switch assembly from www.ecstuning.com or www.purems.com for a little more than $150.
