Hi, I have a PS2 slimline and it was working fine for over 3 years. I then plugged it in recently and the standby light won't even come on. The power supply gets warm. Any ideas?
You might try a friends ps2 power supply of the same type to make shure it isnt the ps2 that is broken. If the friends power supply works, get a working one from ebay or something.

Take the game out and see if the laser is towards the back. If so, pull the eye towards the spindle or where the hole of the game goes.....and clean the laser eye with a q tip soaked in alcohol.....
Not necessarily, just make sure that the laser is not locking up and its actually moving if not then that right there might be the problem. If it is moving then you might need a new laser. If its that the laser is not moving do not touch it instead try moving the ps2 and making sure that you don't hear any clanking noise inside.
trust me, check that there is no dust in the controller slot, blow into it, it worked brilliantly or me!! also, you can use a DRY cotton bud to take out excess dust, don't ever put anything wet in there!! hope this helps
I have the same problem. At first if I wiggled the powere supply cord, and pulled it in one direction, it worked. After a while it wouldn't turn on at all. I ordered another supply cord, but no luck. I opened up the PS2 to see if I could see anything. The male terminal which the power supply plugs into, has three solder joints on the bottom of the terminal. Mine had the main solder joint broke loose. I am going to try resoldering it back on. I will post again if it works. If not will probably just buy another one.
