Sandisk Sansa View 8GB = would not connect

I received a Sandisk Sansa View 8GB for Christmas and tried to connect it to my Dell Inspiron laptop (XP SP2). It would not connect to the laptop. I connected with the USB cable and the PC indicated a new MTP device was attached and then indicated that a problem has occurred during installation and your device may not work properly. The Sansa View device was not recognized and did not appear in My Computer.

When i try to connect my sansa view to the computer with USB, i hear a weird sound. Normally when you connect a device by USB, you should hear the same sound with any device. My sansa view has worked perfectly for 4 months or so, and now the connection by USB makes a different sound...and it is nog recognized. Anyone familiar with this problem?

What I have to do to connect my sansa view to my pc is...

step 1 - power up both.
step 2 - connect data cable to sansa.
step 3 - slide the lock button to lock the sansa.
step 4 - while holding the left direction on the thumbwheel count to 10 or 11.
step 5 - plug USB cable into computer.

may need to download software first but most newer computers automatically downloads drive when unit is connected. other than that you should be good to go.

There seems to be a problem when connecting the sansa view to a dell computer when the player is set to MTP. I suggest that you use the MSC mode when using the sansa view.

Make sure to remove the MicroSD card and format separately.

Format and restore to factory settings (without MicroSD card)

The Sansa View will be seen by XP and Vista. If you have a music service, do not place any music on the MicroSD card.

Place music service files on the Sansa internal memory. As the days comes close to renew, any music service mp3's placed on the external MicroSD ard, will not renew. A software bug Sansdisk must fix.

Install Media converter, then connect sansa. Then, it should appear in My Computer as Sansa View. You can add it there or use the converter software.

Dell optiplex 110 sys does not find the sansa view player

I have recently connected to a Sansa device. The device had to be powered on before it would be detected as a drive. Also it had a hold feature which suspended any I/O. Alternately, the Dell may not have all the usb ports connected to the motherboard. I suggest you plug the Sansa device into the same usb you were connecting the external drive. Beyond this, more information required. I hope it helps. Good Luck.
