Repair man indicated tv needs new green color tube but says the part is no longer available so tv can't be fixed, anybody know where i can find a replacement color tube?
the screen image is in a greenish shadow. the images have sharp edges from a focus/clarity stand point but the color over the entire screen is dark. my uncle who i got the tv from researched the problem with some local technicians and was told it was a weak color tube. problem has gotten much worse since i brought it to maryland from florida. our tv repair guy, after doing all the convergence/alignment things said it was a part dealing with the focus but later after changing this part out changed his assessment to needing the new green tube.the screen image is in a greenish shadow. the images have sharp edges from a focus/clarity stand point but the color over the entire screen is dark. my uncle who i got the tv from researched the problem with some local technicians and was told it was a weak color tube. problem has gotten much worse since i brought it to maryland from florida. our tv repair guy, after doing all the convergence/alignment things said it was a part dealing with the focus but later after changing this part out changed his assessment to needing the new green tube.

Your blue picture tube is failing. Invest in a new TV. "If" you can find a new set of tubes(you have to replace all 3 red blue and green) they are around $800-1000. Not cost effective. Run the TV into the ground if you want to wait but do not invest any repair money in my opinion.
Yes it does, you should not unscrew the red screws only the gold ones in the corners of the tube.
What is the symptom of the problem that you are having.
You will need to ensure that all of the liquid is off of the circuit boards as soon as possible as it will wick under the IC's on the board and quickly ruin them.
Please let me know if you need more help or assistance.

This set does have a lamp, it utilizes 3 picture tubes (red, green, blue) The tubes are not available as new any longer. It is recommended to replace all 3 after the reaches 5yrs of age because a new tube will over drive the others in brightness but it is possible to only replace the defective one. You can try Tritronics at 800-638-3328 for rebuilds.
Unfortunately parts are going to be really hard to find for that set, and if you happen to find them they're going to be expensive, I'd look at getting a new TV
A compatibility issue rears its ugly head. The format that was to be back then has changed slightly over the years and this is what it's come to...Sorry...accordianman
