What is the best upgrade cpu for a compaq presario sr5110nx 32 bit vista O.S... ATHLON 64 (single core) without having to go to 64 bit, and/or new drivers ?

The 400W PSU is going to limit your CPU selection to dual-core at best, although you might be able to get away with a higher-end dual-core CPU if your RAM is not ECC and not dual-channel, and you're not running anything serious in terms of a graphics or sound card or a SCSI array.

Given your current setup I'd really look for a 1.6Ghz dual-core Athlon which has a decent amount of KB in its Level 1 and Level 2 cache, but 3MB for its Level 3 cache.

Anything beyond that ballpark of a CPU upgrade is certainly well within the bounds of diminishing returns, and you should look at getting a new PSU, motherboard, and probably RAM (I'm guessing you're using DDR2 RAM currently).

Hi

Well about guaranteed your 2 gigs ram is probably DDR II ram which has maximum of four gigs with 64 bit processing and 2 with 32 bit is. So motherboard needs upgrade. 35.00 for good giabit or board with 1000 megs a sec ethernet lan. With ddrIII ram. And upgrade operating system I believe win 8 has max 16 gig ram win 7 uses 8 gis vista and longhorn 64 use 4 and xp normal edition 32 bit uses 2 max. So you about have to run win 7 or 8. Win 7 will become direct x incomparable at some point making us change to win 8. Win8 cost like 300 to 350 and tiger direct.com has good deal of the win 7 pro media center for 75 bucks. So spend 150 on good speed 8 gig ram, 125 bucks for 12 core and at 4 GHz I think. And a board for 35. Reuse all other componets. And you\'ll have a 2500 dollar computer and best on the block. Jetway motherboard 939 GT4-SLI-G will only accept 3.5 gig RAM and not 4 gig RAM as per specifications. It does not run on gaming applications when 4 gig inserted (4 x 1 gig). Any solution?

If you are running a 32 bit version of windows it will only see up to 3.5gig of ram in your system no matter how much ram you put in there.
This is down to 32 bit windows only being able to address a maximum of 3.5 gig of ram.
Windows 64bit can address a far larger amount of ram and is why you will see all windows computers running 4gig or more of ram having Windows 64bit installed.
As you have said your computer is running Windows 7 32bit the only way you will get your computer to see the whole 4gig of ram you have installed is to upgrade to Windows 7 64bit.
Hope this answers your question and helps you out.

If I upgrade from 2 gig to 4 gig RAM for my ASUS 1201n, will my 32 bit system benefit?

Any 32-Bit Operating System can use at the max of 3 to 3.2 GB of RAM. Hence, when running a 32-Bit Operating System in a computer, then it's advisable to have only 3 GB RAM installed.

I want to upgrade my ram for my pc...atmost to how much i can upgrade and in each slot individually how much capacity of ram it supports ...my motherboard is 915glvg

i would like to inform you that *********** board supports upto 4 gb ram and 2 gb in 2 slots will be the best combination but depends on the OS you are using if its 32 bit XP or Vista it wont accept more than 3 gb so if you wish to use your system in full throttle mode upgrade you r OS to 64 bit XP or Vista and enjoy all 4gb standards that you actually wish to but even 3 gb is like playing with wild fire that will be really too fast processing speed and thrilling performance that you expect.
