I am having the same problem...

  • Anonymous Feb 23, 2008

Exact same problem! If I jiggle it the right way, I can get it to work, but there must be a "fix" for this...is it a clogged line or something? Help!

  • zolihonig Jun 08, 2008

I found a solution- call Keurig, they will send you a new unit.

the add water light is on even though chamber is full. The heater is not heating water

  • Sarah Carey Jun 11, 2015

That happened with my brand new machine. I took out the water filter from the reservoir and it started working. I put the water filter back in a little later and it is still working.

ADD WATER, HEATING, SMALL CUP ARE ALL
FLASHING. I don't think the magnet in the float disc is strong enough. Either that or loses its strength over time. I took one of those flat refrigerator magnets, cut it to the size of the magnetic float disc and taped it onto the side of the reservoir where the disc is when water is full. Mine has been working ever since. KNOW THAT YOUR ADD WATER LIGHT MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY. KEEP THE RESERVOIR FULL!!!!!!! My Keurig is out of warranty.

Turns out I finally called Keurig and explained the problem (says to add water when water container is already full...) and they told me that it was most likely an issue with the water container. They sent me a new water container about a month ago and it looks as though the problem has been solved!! Solution: Call Keurig and get a new water container!!!!

There's a magnetic float in the water container and a magnetic reed switch behind the plastic inside the keurig. The magnet on mine eventually wouldn't close the reed switch consistently. First I melted a square hole in the side of the keurig and repositioned the switch directly behind the magnetic float. For some strange reason it's about 3/8 inch offset. No joy, the reed switch was still intermittent. Next I placed a spacer behind the reed switch to move it closer to the magnetic float in the water continer. It only moved it about 1/8 inch closer but seems to be working consistently now, joy. Decent design but they probably sourced really bad magnets from china or something. Alternatively you could try and beef up the magnetic float in the water container. Good luck my friends!

If you look on the side of the water reservoir there is a float disc. this magnetic disk tell the keurig the unit is empty or full, sediment likes to collect in there. if yours is saying add water empty the reservoir and check that the disc is down, add water and make sure it floats to the top. my problem was opposite, would run out of water and the coffee make kept going(float stuck up, thought it was still full)

SOURCE: Keurig after filling cup fails to pull water from reservoir

There is a major design defect with all the newer Keurigs, including the B60 and the B70/B77. My understanding is that Keurig has redesigned the pump mechanism that extracts water from the reservoir and into the brewer (there's a second pump that forces the hot water through the K-cup, and it's not involved). They are now using a small DC motor and impeller pump, which is much quieter (to address complaints in many reviews) but the new design just doesn't work.

It appears that air gets into the system, and the new pump isn't strong enough to "self-prime" in this case. So the pump motor runs and runs without water going through it, and eventually turns itself off so it doesn't burn out (it should usually take only a few seconds to fill the internal tank). Many people think the problem centers around the 'check valve' in the base of the unit, just below where the clear reservoir seats itself: Theory is that the tiny pump can't pull hard enough to open the check valve to let water flow, especially when there's any air in the system.

I've had two B77 units already myself, and both have failed this way within only a few weeks. FWIW, the workaround I discovered is to turn the unit on, and lift up the water-filled reservoir about 1-2" as if you're removing it. Then jam it back down into place, hard and fast. Doing this injects just enough pressure into the system to open the check valve, and if the pump motor is running, you'll hear (and see) it immediately start transferring water from the reservoir to the chamber. You'll often have to do this between each cup you brew, and again when you first turn on the system.

There are hundreds of similar reports all over the Internet about this issue, and apparently no real solutions from Keurig yet (I don't even know if they're acknowledging the problem). Other symptoms include brewing half-filled cups of coffee, as others on this forum have reported.

I suggest everyone call Keurig's customer service and file complaints about this until they come up with a fix. Don't let them tell you it's a problem with your AC power or your hard water (they'll try excuses like tthose first). And until they redesign this, there's not much point in having them ship you a refurbished replacement for your brand-new machine, because chances are it will quickly fail just like your old one.

Testimonial: "This is my problem to a "T". I will contact Keurig directly. I love the brewer just wish it would work."

What caused a loud, low frequency noise upon ignition.

Water in the heating chamber will cause your heater to make these sounds. If your water is cold, it will create condensation inside of the heating chamber. Another way water would get into the heating chamber is if your heat exchangers are leaking. Id check to make sure that heating chamber is not full of water, if theres any real accumulation of water, 2" or more, inside that chamber, the exchanger needs replacing. Otherwise, it sounds like condensation.

Water does not go into the detergent chamber. The water comes out from under the machine on the floor.

Are you sure that is not the "bleach chamber"?
To avoid risk of "bleaching" some parts of clothes with concentrated, bleach, the washer will get the bleach only when water is full & washing has started.
Non-bleaching detergent can just be put in with dry clothes.

Random banging and whooshing sound

New water heater?
http://waterheatertimer.org/New-water-heater-making-noise.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/Repair-water-heater-valve.html
Water does not compress. So each faucet has air chamber located behind wall. Air chamber is usually just a vertical piece of pipe about 18" long with a cap so it never fills with water. When water flows... all the water back to the main supply begins to move toward the faucet. The weight of this water can be considerable. When faucet is turned off, the whole column of water suddenly stops, but weight of water is still pushing forward.
Without air chambers to cushion the sudden stop of water weight, the pipes bang and rattle. With air chambers, the weight of the water pushes up into the air chamber causing the air to compress, which silently cushions the weight of water, but also causes a push-back when water stops moving forward. The push back can then move water backwards where it compresses air inside another air chamber. So the water can slosh back and forth.
IF you have factory-installed heat traps on your water heater, these things have rubber baffles. The baffles hum and rattle and whistle and clog and cause strange sounds that carry through the pipes and water heater and wood joists etc. The water sloshing back and forth can move the baffles and cause noise.
Or maybe you have a check valve that has gotten loose.

Noisy water pipes when neighbours use water

Install air chamber to cushion sudden-stop of flowing water.
Water flow coming to sudden stop is called water hammer, and will bang pipes, but also loosen plumbing joints, causing leaks.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-electric-problems-with-water-heater.html#bang
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/Flow-rates-water-hammer-600.jpg

Air chamber has to be vertical, and about 18" long, with cap on top.
By code each Hot and Cold line at each tap will have air chamber located behind the wall. So there are two air chambers at each tap.

In your case, you can probably add air chamber to your Hot and Cold lines and solve problem for both dwellings.

Water hammer is caused because water does not compress like air.
So when long column of water suddenly stops... the whole pipe-full of water comes to sudden halt... and that water could weigh 1-1/2 pounds ... and just like a hammer head moving, the weight of water bangs the pipes to dissipate energy, causing noise.

Rattling AFTER water use, while heating

1) Rattling or clunking sound in pipes when water is shut off can be caused by lack of air chamber at the faucet. When moving water is suddenly stopped by faucet turning off, the forward energy of water suddenly stopping will cause pipes to shake. This is because water cannot be compressed. To stop this problem, each faucet has air chamber connected to pipes behind the wall. The air chamber is a simple pipe sticking up with a cap on it. The air chamber never fills with water, so a 'pocket' of air is contained inside the pipe. When water shuts off, the forward motion of water moves up the air chamber where it compresses the air which absorbs the energy, so pipes don't rattle or clunk.

2) Gurgling, popping sound inside tank is caused by sediment build up.
