DVD PLAYER NOT PLAYING DVD

"DVD No Disk" message appears whenever I try to play some of my DVDs (particularly those from boxed sets), other DVDs work fine as do ordinary CDs. The DVDs which won't paly are ones which worked fine 24 hours before. My system sometimes says format unsupported or cannot read, other times skips or freezed during movie. Tried software upgrade, lens cleaner, neither worked. I have had problems with my Bose 321GS system since new in that it will not play certain DVD's. For example, it sits there with "Reading" displayed on the unit but never starts the video. This has occurred for one disc out of a multidisc box on several occasions while the other discs in the set load and play normally. The "problem disc" will run fine in other DVD players. Coupled with the unit turning off at random, failing to produce sound when started on HDTV, suddenly producing a loud hiss in the middle of something or producing occasional popping sounds from the base unit has really soured me on Bose! Won't play DVD's anymore. I put a DVD in and it gets stuck in "reading" mode. I can hear the disc turning but it never gets going fast enough to start. I did manage to get a CD to play. It's not very old and hasn't been used hard. Some of the DVD's are brand new and I don't know what to do. I've spent good money for this and went with a brand that I thought would be reliable. Sound works, radio works, conections checked and rechecked, will not play any DVD installed new direct cable. Bose Instructional DVD will sometimes display limited text/sound but cannot control access to menu items. LG DA3520 fails to read any DVD, spindle motor does not come to speed and has little torque. When in radio FM mode the Disk drawer opens spontaneously. Pushing it in manually will close it for a short period but problem cycles

We are having the same problem with our player. It won't play either DVDs or CDs and just gets stuck in the reading mode!

Grrr, its terribly annoying. i have the same problem with the jvc system TH-S3. mine seems to play 'all region' dvd's and audio CDs but nothing else. i tried the jvc.co.uk website but found it ridiculously unhelpful, i expected a bit more from a company of this size but its absolutely clear that jvc has no concept of customer service whatsoever.

I also have the same problem. My Sony DAV-S400 will play audio cds no problems but when i put any dvd into it it simply displays "Can't play". Any assistance would be great.
