Image download issues-Canon A650 & Windows Vista

The issue is corrupted images transferred from my A650 to my picture files using Windows Vista.
Many of the images are split into two or three sections, horizontally. Part of the image will be normal, while the split parts will be discolored.
I've tried Canon customer service via Internet, phone, and finally sent the camera to their repair center in Illinois, at their request. What did they do? They addressed the "leaking light issue." I hadn't even mentioned that issue to them. Totally disregarded the three distorted photos that I sent which showed the downloading problem.
Anyone have any ideas on resolving this?
Thanks.

When on play mode, one picture shows up as a tiny thumbnail image and reads "cannot retrieve image." No pictures after that one will load onto my computer. HELP!

Camera can have the same issues just like computer... crashes, that's happens most of the time when you work with your equipment and not when you don't use it; it deletes or corrupts your files.

You can try to recover your files on your digital camera card by installing file recovery software - Recuva (its free)

Good luck

Trying to download my pictures from Canon Powershot A430 onto my new laptop Windows 7. Downloaded the disk and now trying without success to download my pictures onto the computer. Help??

Supported windows Operating system Windows 98 Second edition(SE)
Windows Me
Windows 2000 Service pack 4
Windows XP SP 1 and SP 2 Canon PowerShot A430 has no update about the new driver software for windows 7 Try doing this direct transfer in your computer 1. Connect the camera to your computer using the supplied USB cable of your camera. 2. Set the mode dial to (playback) and turn on the power.
The camera and computer will be able to communicate. 3. If there is no pop up window that has Canon CameraWindow, Click the [Start] menu and select [all Programs] or [Programs]. followed by [Canon Utilities], [Camera Window], [PowerShot-IXY-IXUS-DV 6] and [CameraWindow] 4. Download the images.
* Download the images using the camera or the computer.
* By default, the downloaded images are saved into the [My Pictures] folder. ** If the above process does not work you can just use the memory card of your camera and connect that on your laptop. (some laptop has built in card reader) The memory card works like a flash drive and you can just transfer files like transferring from one folder to another. ** Issue on the operating system compatibility.

Pictures on my digital camera.Cant transfer them to the computer

I'm not sure you need any software to actually view camera pictures on xp, though there are many programs made for managing and embellishing pictures once you get them loaded into your computer's memory. Please go to this link for a general exposition of xp digital camera use.
Then connect your camera to your computer, and follow these instructions to download the photos into a file somewhere. (Maybe you want to create a folder in your My Pictures folder entitled Canon photos or something like that, just to keep them straight.) If you don't get an option to open the camera wizard, you can start it manually by going
to control panel>scanners and cameras>add a camera and the wizard should find your camera plugged in and start the download process...you can browse to the folder you created to have it store your photos there, or use the default. Once they're downloaded, you can access your photos using windows explorer.
But there are also a couple of great image viewer available as freeware: I can recommend both FastStone Image Viewer available here and Irfan View (available here)
Have fun, and don't worry about that red eye!

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Can't download large movie files to iphoto : (

i found the answer to my own question above and thought i'd share.

rather than iphoto, you can use "image capture," which is software that comes standard with the mac.

-Turn on your camera, and connect it to your computer with the cable that came with it.
-Close iPhoto if it opens automatically. Open Image Capture (Applications folder).
-Click Download Some to choose specific items to transfer, or click Download All to transfer all items.
If you click Download Some, choose the items to transfer, and click Download.

By default, Image Capture transfers still images to your Pictures folder, video files to your Movies folder, and music files to your Music folder. To choose another folder, choose Other from the Download To pop-up menu, then click Download Some or Download All.
