You may need to replace the touch pad. The part that you removed from the front can be ordered on searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and look at the Dispenser parts diagram to find and order the part.
You tried to reinstall the keyboard and touchpad hardware parts? Have you had ANY damage? Spill? OS upgrade? If you replaced the hardware is the ribbon cables connect properly?
This has happened to me and it took me hours to figure it out. I hope yours is the same problem... Make sure you dont have your touch pad set to off. On my ASUS It is F9 on my keyboard. the key shows an icon of the touch pad with a slash (/) through it. If you do not see this on your keyboard try looking in control panel and see if there is a setting in there. Good Luck. Please let me know if this worked. Geraldine
Hello Ron, On that touch pad not working do any button at all work?? its not a uncommon thing for the touch pad to quit working,in some case its just a matter of making sure the plug on it has a good connection where it plugs into the control board. If certain button work while others don't its a sign that the control board itself is good and the problem lies within the touch pad and it would need to be replaced. It may possible as to clean the connection of the ribbon cable on the touch pad by using a pencil eraser and try cleaning the ends of the ribbon cable, again if that doesn't work the touch pad would need need to be replaced . On that model the touch pad is integrated onto the control console and the part number for it is 9782418CB just so ya know its pricey (over $200 ) Good luck,GENE
Hi Friend,
In this case I would recommend you to please connect any external mouse on the system and check if it is working
If it is then I would recommend you to please update the touch pad drivers for the system from the below link:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_1525&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=
But please make sure to select the Operating system that you are using on the system, the above link is with the Windows Vista, so, I request you to please select the Operating system first and then from the list of options that are below select the option which says
"Input Device Drivers",
You will an an option of Dell pointing stick, download it, run it and then restart the system and then check if the touch pad starts working or not..
Please let me know if it was of any help
Thank you.
I believe you need to order part #1 in the accompanying breakdown. the part # is 74011539 and it is called control panel/switch assembly. this is the piece with the ribbon cable that plugs into the control unit #10 in the diagram. you can price it out at your nearest appliance parts store. hope this helps.
Hi,
you have a couple of options here.
1:) check fujitsus website, as sometimes there are drivers specifically designed for touchpads. i.e ALps pointing devices et,c. download if possible and install.
2:) try connecting an external mouse.
3:) take to a computer repair specialist, or if your a competant person. search for downloading the service manual. and remove the touchpad, which usually involves, keyboard-removal. and seperating the touchpad from pickup panel below it.
i,d assume that the pad may have either a loose ribbon cable connection, or has suffered some fluid spillage damage.
I enquired sony about this and they said its going to cost $165 to fix a new one on the laptop.
