If your Maxima is equipped with Automatic climate control, you must put your control unit into self-diagnostic mode, then follow the troubleshooting chart for whichever fault code is output by the climate control unit. (most likely a mode control motor fault)

If your Maxima is equipped with manual climate control, there are two main causes. The mode control (push button) switch unit and the mode control motor.
The switch must be tested first, then the wiring between the switch and the motor. If these things check good, then the motor should be replaced.

Vents won't blow hot or cold air. Comes from defrost and feet when you put fan on.

It's the vent actuator, it moves the baffle that changes the direction of the air flow.
Here is a video of a broken vacuum hose that creates the same problem.

It could also be a failed actuator.

Why is it when i drive my 1988 s10 pick up it blows warm air from the lower middle vent?it only does it when i drive it a long distance.

The vents for defrost, face and feet are all controled by vacuum. If there was no vacuum then defrost would be the default position. If it begins to blow at your feet and the lever was not set to it then I would check the connection at the back of the lever.
There is a dial where all the small vacuum hoses are that rotates when you move the lever. I have seen this dial come loose and allow vacuum to leak or there is a pin on it that will break. If its broke and caught in between settings that may be what causes the air to blow at your feet.

2 possible problems, #1 is the control switch on the dash has malfuntioned(less likely) , #2 is the motor under the dash that changes the blower position is not working properly.

Dash defogger does NOT blow on windshield. It blows thru dash only, regardless of setting (dash only, dash & feet, feet only, defroster only, defroster & feet, etc) Help?

this could be a simple switch problem, if it is a rotary switch, pull the front of it off and try turning the little knob with pliers, the cheap plastic used now sometimes rounds off if this isnt problem depending on type of switch electrical connections on switch could be bad or vaccum could be plugged or non existant

Replaced battery in 2004 chevy trailblazer 4x4 8cl., then air conditioner doesnt blow out the face vents only the defrost and feet. any ideas?

Typically, you have a vacuum issue, air flow system is designed to FAIL in the defrost mode, so no vacuum, doors are spring loaded to blow out defrost ports.
