I had the same "speed stall" error on my true ps300 today. I was pretty pissed off, as the machine has barely been used! I didnt want to have to call the company, since good customer service is a thing of the past.

Anyway, if your in the same boat as me, here is how to fix it: 1) make sure power is off, take off the front shroud, 2 screws on right side, 2 screws in left side 2) locate speed sensor beside driven motor pulley, locate magnet in pulley, wipe off dirt on magnet and sensor 3) move sensor closer to magnet, as close as you can without the sendor touching the magnet, or crashing anything else 4) put back shroud etc, fire up treadmill, and it should work. If it does not, you might be at the mercy of true.

A speed stall message, means there is a speed problem. First check your wires, for loose wires or pinched. Second check speed sensor. If problem is still there replace controller.

  • Anonymous Jan 05, 2012

If there is a problem with the sensor, dont replace the controller!

Yes you may be able to recalabrate the machine. A grade stall is when the machine does bot think the machine is at the right height. A bad lower board can also be the problem. True has those treadmills brought overseas. There not the american made quality of the units they useto make in MO.

It can be fixed. I know all the employees at True

  • The error messages that may be displayed by the built-in diagnostics are as follows:
    • E1:INCLINE
      • This means that the incline is moving when it has not been commanded to.

      • This is a minimum incline calibrating error that can be cleared by calibrating the incline.

      • This occurs when acceleration greater than 2.1 mph occurs as this is greater acceleration than anticipated.
    • E2:CAL
      • This means feedback cannot reduce or increase speed to target and error can be cleared by calibrating treadmill.
    • E3:EEPROM

I am getting a speed stall error on my true ps300 treadmill. How do I fix it? Thank you

I had the same thing on my ps300 today. I just posted the solution on another fixya post regarding the true ps100. Essentially, clean the sensor and magnet on the motors driven pulley and move the sensor as close to the magnet without it touching the magnet. It worked for me.

Error 1 - Start up error. This is caused because the belt was commanded to move and the opto (speed sensor on the motor) has not seen any movement or the belts movement was interrupted prior to it reaching its commanded speed. To fix Verify opto operation in Diagnostics, Motor Test
Mode, Section 2. Verify DC voltage at connector P6 pins 1 and 2. Verify that LED 4 on the Motor Controller flashes as the motor moves. Let me know if you need any more help. Fitness Fix-It
